"The boy, lured her away from my loving arms, and once he had her to all to himself, he cast her away for a certain Ms. Sarah Jacobs. Broke my poor Bella's heart, also breaking my own. I can't let her be fooled again, my friend, surely you can understand..."
Jens nodded. "I understand sir," he said with pure sympathy. He felt bad for Drake. The sadness in his eyes made Jens feel a bit upset himself. He now saw the problem with Jack Kelly. It wasn't that he was an incredibly bad man, he just made some mistakes and hurt some feelings. It was something that everyone did at one point in their lives, but Jens understood why Mr. Camden didn't want Bella around Jack. "Well then Mr. Camden, I'll be sure to keep Bella away from him," Jenson smiled kindly.
"Which house is yours, my wondrous good friend?" Once again, Camden had to smother a laugh.
Jens looked out of the carriage to see where they were. He knew the street. He was gonna tell Mr. Camden to continue along until they reached Jen's place, but then he realized that if his uncle saw him getting out of the carriage he'd have something to say. "Take me up to that next ally please. I'll walk from there," Jens said pointing ahead of them.

"Well then Mr. Camden, I'll be sure to keep Bella away from him."
Drake listened carefully to Jen's words and the way he spoke them, searching for any insincerity or suspicion in the young man's voice. A kindly grin overtook his feigned sad expression, as he found neither. Yes! He had done it! Somehow, he'd weaseled his way out of the faux pas, and had even convinced a newsie of Kelly's tarnished character! Haha, Greaser would surely be thrilled to hear of that. Another newsie enlisted in the rebellion against Jack Kelly perhaps? It was possible... But, he was getting ahead of himself here. Once he had Bella Braxton in his iron grasp, then he would focus more on the alliance with Mike D. Greaser and Mitch Richards. Wouldn't they be surprised when they found that this mere boy had already aided him in the capture of his prize. In all technicalities he would no longer have an obligation to them after Bella was found, but truly he would love nothing more than to assist the riff-raff gang in the brutal massacre of his sworn enemy. Kelly deserved to suffer.
Camden grinned pleasantly, his blue eyes unusually soft and warm. "It does my heart good to hear you say that Jens. You are a good man indeed. Now let's see about getting you home."
"Take me up to that next ally please. I'll walk from there."
Jens pointed far ahead to no house in particular. Blast! Camden was hoping to know the exact address for several reasons. Especially, if things went bad... How the devil am I to find this urchin again? A fine, upstanding newspaper man, cannot spend all hours of the day wandering the streets of New York, seeking out urchins!! He smiled smugly. Well... only if they're attractive young female urchins... How many hours and funds had he spent chasing Bella... Far too many, according to his advisers.
"Very well, my friend I shall take you there, if you wish to walk."
Perhaps it was better for Jens not to know that Camden knew his residence. He could simply follow the boy at a distance and see which house Jens entered. In addition, he would have to give Jens his address. Won't the help be shocked to the death, he chuckled.
The carriage stopped at a fairly clean rain-washed ally, and Camden reveled how the excited smile had never left the young man's face. Oh the cleverness of me! The skill of my trickery! Jens smiled and attempted to give the drawing of Bella back.
"Oh no, Mr. Jens, this is yours to keep." he quickly placed the drawing back in Jen's filthy hands. "I thank you ardently for helping me find my beautiful little friend, and the minute you learn anything at all, I want you to come to my address." Camden skillfully reached into the silk lining of his vest and produced an intricately engraved card, that read "The New York Star, Striking the world with a wondrous light." Camden had created the saying himself, and had always found it deviously clever. My Star shall conquer your World, Pulitzer, he thought arrogantly. The address of his penthouse suite was written underneath the Star's publishing establishment. Camden handed it to Jens, while noticing the stunned and bewildered look of his coachman. He must think me daft, he thought happily. Oh the simpleness of fools...

Jens smiled as he took back the drawing. He folded it and placed it in the pocket of his wool pants. He nodded taking the small card from Drake. Jens chuckled as he read "The New York Star, Striking the world with a wondrous light." He always found business slogans amusing.
The coach halted. Jens climbed out. "I'll be sure to get right on it Mr. Camden. I won't let you down sir," Jens smiled. He then turned and began walking down the street. What a day. For once his life was a beginning to get more interesting. This whole thing with Mr. Camden seemed like some story out of a book. Jens could see it now. He'd be the hero for sure. Reuniting to lost friends and bringing a bit more happiness to the world. It wasn't just that it was more. It was like some sort of secret mission. It would be quite an adventure Jens was sure. He turned one last time to Mr. Camden's coach and waved happily. What a day indeed.
