((Aw, Skittery! )) Starsage was being sarcastic, Jack thought, but at least she had said she understood now. "Good," he said. "Now we're on the same page. Look, Star, I've thought about it, and this ain't worth gettin' all upset about. It ain't so bad ya did what ya did..." Jack trailed off. It wasn't the worst thing she could have done. But, aside from maybe Spot Conlon, Jack was one of the most territorial leaders there was. "Yeah, well, I see where I stand in this situation...I'm Outta hea'..""Whatt're ya talkin' about?" Jack demanded as Skittery got up and threw on his hat. "Skittery!" But Skittery left the bunkroom, trailing more mud in his wake. Jack heard him go down the stairs, and then the old door to the lodging house open and close. He looked back to the others in the bunk room. "He'll be back..." Jack stated with a nod. Racetrack didn't say too much when Skittery was leaving. He had the feeling that Skittery was just playing it up and putting on a show. He'd be back before dark, probably. Like the rest of them, he still had to sell papes and sleep in a bed. "Now look whatcha gone and done..""Me?!" Race exclaimed. "I ain't done nothin'! He's just playin' it up. He'll be back before dark..." Race shifted in his seat. Skittery drove him up the wall and around the block, but most of the time the kid wasn't so bad.

"Thanks Jack. Lets...uh....just forget about this, okay?"
Personally Jack was all for forgetting about the whole thing. He didn't think too much of the situation anymore, and thought it best played down from this point. He nodded to Starsage. "Sure thing. I'll see ya some other time." And hopefully, he chose not to add, under different circumstances. "An' do me a favor. If ya see Skittery out there, let 'im know he can come back in anytime he wants."
Ractrack grinned at Starsage. "I'll see ya around, Starsage..." he said with a nod. He wondered privately exactly what Starsage meant needed forgetting, and hoped he wasn't blushing when he recalled what else she could mean. "I'll make it to the Bronx some time or another..." He added on after a thought, "And careful. Can't imagine where all this mud came from..."
((Anything else left to say, really...? Haha, maybe some help, you guys, I'm at a loss for words...))

"So, anyway. See ya around."
Race stood up after a moment. "Hey, Star...I'll walk ya back to the Bronx, if ya'd like..." He didn't have anything better to do, and he thought he'd talk to Star before she left, and hopefully have a less-than-awkward conversation. Race also hoped he might find Skittery in the process of their walk. Again, Skittery could be a pain in the neck, but it was better to know he was a pain in the neck who was here, rather than there.
"I'll walk back with ya," Race said again. "It ain't like I got anythin' better to do. Bummin' around here, s'about it..." He walked towards Starsage and the door. "I'll see ya, Jack. Mush..."

"So......"
"So." Race echoed blandly. He grinned for a moment and said, "Ya wanna explain why you and Skittery were both covered in mud?" It had been a question he'd been meaning to ask her from the get-go, but obviously the circumstances had prevented that from happening. He didn't doubt it would be quite an interesting story, and was rather anxious to hear it.
He glanced up and down the street. "Which way to the Bronx?" he asked. His sense of direction was usually good, once you pointed him the right way.

"Lets just say that we got in a fight with a few kids and some water...and we lost."
Race laughed. "I'd like to hear the rest of that story..." he said. An explination that vague definetly made him think of many different possibilities, each one more colorful and less likely than the last. He decided to dismiss it for now. "So why did Skittery take off like that?" he asked abruptly. "Did I say somethin'?"
He allowed her to take the lead towards the Bronx. Once he recognized the street they were on he fell into step beside her.
