Houdini loved the fact that because she was the leader she got her own room in the lodging house. She was grateful for the privacy, since she was very female, but still felt bad that all of her fellow newsies had to share the big bunk room.
Houdini walked over to her small bed. It was a bunk bed like the others, but Houdini had claimed only the bottom bunk as her own. Sometimes, she would let one of her friends sleep on the top. She glanced over to the dirty window that showed the alley way down, two floors below, and smiled when she saw the fire escape. Escape... Houdini thought. Now that was one of her favorite words... She opened the dirty window and poked her head out to admire her fire escape.
She heard a knock on her door that startled her, causing her to bump her head on the window top.
"Holy.." she muttered rubbing her head. "Come in!" she called as she sat down on her bed waiting for the person to enter.

"Hey Houdini how ya been?" asked KittyKat walking into Houdini's room. "Ain't bein leadah da best!" said KittyKat plopping down on Houdini's bed and took an apple from her pocket and started to eat it.

((FYI - The rules say that Posts should be 2 paragraphs or more.. ))As Houdini's eyes began to adjust from the haze they were once in, she heard the familiar voice of Kitty before she could see her. Rubbing her head she joined Kitty on her bed. Ain't bein leadah da best!Houdini snorted, "Yeah it's great - You gotta look out fah da odde' newsies, take cea of not jist youself but all deh younge ones, and yah git you own room." Houdini laughed. "I'm only seein' one upside to all dat." She replied to Kitty's question. "So how you been Kitty? Why aintcha on da Island wid you newsies?" Houdini asked as she flopped backwards onto her bed.

Kittykat just watched Houdini rub her head "Did you'se hoit yourself or what?" asked Kitty and then remembered the other newsies back at Long Island.
"Oh dey all at da boat I'se told dem I'se wanted ta check in wit da oddahs." said KittyKat "I'se was gettin bored watchin dem jump off of da plank right in ta da watta. It was kinda a pain hearin dem yell and scream and everyting." said KittyKat "But it is kinda fun jumpin in ta da watta I'se gotta admit dat." said Kitty as she smiled.

"Eh..You could say dat.." Houdini said grimacing. She wasn't too fond of letting it be public news that she had done something stupid, like, hitting her head on a window.
At Kitty's explanation of her newsies whereabouts Houdini nodded and said, "Yeah - mine're all out sellin'."

Kittykat rolled her eyes at her friend. Houdini was clumsy, just a little though.
"I'se goin ta see 'ow Cole is doin you'se wanna come?" asked KittyKat. Cole and Kittykat weren't really that great of friends. They can't finish one conversation without getting into a fight about something.

Houdini grimaced at the mention of her wanting to go see Cole. She knew that they didn't get along so well, but still somehow found the urge to see each other.. She supposed she would go with her - Couldn't hurt. At least she could keep a fight from breaking out - and if it did, she would skedaddle.
"Sure..Someone needs to go along to keep you'se two bugga's from knockin' heads." Houdini said smirking in Kitty's direction.

"Ey we ain't dat bad." said KittyKat "Okay yea we are." she said what could she say Houdini is convincing. Though she knew why herself wanted to go see Cole. They don't really hate each other it's just their thing.
"Kay lets get outtah dis place." said KittyKat headding for the door.
