Mike stormed down the street, toward Rusty's Diner. This was not going as well as he had planned. Today was the day that Jinks would be joining the Midtown crew. No big deal, right? Wrong. When Mike told his newsies what was going on, all hell broke loose. None of them wanted a girl to be staying with them, especially Kelly's sister. They obviously didn't see the genius behind this plan like Mike did. Mike saw it as an opportunity to make Kelly miserable, where as the Midtown newsies saw it as just another annoying girl.
This made Mike frustrated and soon enough, all of the Midtown newsies were at each others throat. Mike loved being the leader of Midtown for many reasons, but the one thing he hated about it was the fact that Midtown newsies were not afraid to defy their leader. They were strong headed and had no fear. Of course, Mike always got his way in the end; but the newsies wouldn't go down without a fight. They never pushed him to far though, because they knew Mike had the power to take their life away in a matter of seconds. They feared him.
After finally convincing his newsies not to kill Jinks when she arrived, Mike headed out. After the bridge incident, Mike told Jinks to meet him at Rusty's Diner. Did he feel bad about Jinks having to walk through Midtown alone? No. She could handle it. Getting to Midtown was the easy part. Surviving Midtown was the hard part. But Mike was convince Jinks could handle herself. And beside the fact that Mike had ordered all of his newsies- which was about half of Midtown alone- to leave Jinks alone if the saw her. They would understand soon enough, he told them.
Mike pushed the door open, glaring at the bell that rang above the door. "Rusty! Are you ever gonna get rid of that blasted bell?!" Mike hollered, unconcerned of the people around him. Without waiting for an answer, Mike stalked to the table closest to the window. Jinks had better hurry up.

No turning back, that's what kept going threw her mind, Jinks already was gone from the lodging house and showing Jack she can take care of herself. She's starting to notice that most of the things that she did was to show Jack she could take care of herself. Maybe she was living her life wrong, maybe she was doing this for the wrong reasons, no turning back, that thought came again and Jinks knew that it was right.
"Why did she have to leave?" she asked and went up to touch her necklace but it wasn't there, she remembered then that she left it for Jack even though she doesn't understand why she did. She was now walking threw Midtown, it gave her the creeps for some reason but maybe that was a sign. She just kept walking though, she was suppose to meet Mike at Rusty's Diner and she wasn't about to run scared now.
She was standing right outside the diner, maybe I shouldn't do this. she thought and then shook it off, what am I thinking? I have to do this I already said I would. she thought to herself and walked into the dirty looking dinner and a bell rung, "What the," she said and saw a bell she just rolled her eyes at it, "Ya must be kidding," she mumbled couldn't Mike have picked a better place to talk at? She looked around the place and finally saw him sitting at a table.
"Hey," she said and sat across from him, "I'm so sorry that I'm late, I had to get away from well ya know." she said tucking a peace of hair behind her ear. Knowing Mike he would probably let it slide, he said he knew Jack and what he was like so why wouldn't he understand? He should understand right?

Sighing, Mike placed his head in his hands. Sometimes, life was just to much. Mike wasn't sure if he could take it anymore. There was so much that was going on with him. And what was worse, was no one understood. Everything that he was going through seemed small to others. They seemed small and insignificant. No one cared about the trash that roomed the streets. And if they did happen to spare you a second glance, they would argue that it was your own fault. You were the one that brought all this upon yourself. You were the one that condemned yourself to this fate. If they only knew..
The bell above the door again rang its annoying ring. Mike refused to look up, even though part of him knew he should; it was probably Jinks. Mike didn't look up until he felt a presence across from him. Hopefully it was Jinks."Hey, I'm so sorry that I'm late, I had to get away from well ya know." Mike looked up slowly, allowing his hands to rub along his face. Finally, Mike looked at Jinks.
"Good afternoon, Jinks," Mike said with fake sincerity. He definitely was not in the mood for this. And Mike couldn't wait until he had to bring Jinks to Midtown. That would brighten his mood. But he knew he had to do this; Jinks was a major part in this plan. The boys at Midtown would just have to get over it. "How are you, love?" Might as well make this enjoyable for the most part.

"Good afternoon, Jinks,"
"Good afternoon Mike," said Jinks giving a soft smile to him. Not like her big smile that everyone always sees. She was still thinking on how this will turn out; bad or good? She wanted to know but she didn't have a time machine to go find out so she's going to just have to wait and find out.
"How are you, love?"
She was going to say she was confused but he probably wouldn't like to hear that so she didn't even though she wanted to. "Fine," she said, "Just fine." she said and that's all she kept it at. "What about ya? Having a good day?" she asked he didn't look to happy but at the same time looked kind of happy.
"Is everything okay? Ya seem frustrated." said Jinks twirling a piece of hair around her finger. She didn't want to get anyone mad at her so she was hoping she wasn't pushing it.

"Good afternoon Mike,"
Mike wondered if Jinks still liked him. It was no secret that she used to. Even if she hid it from her brother, she could not hide it from him. Mike could see through anyone. And Mike could see that Jinks had a crush on him. But what he could not tell was if it was just a small school girl crush or a full blown I'm-gonna-marry-him crush. Either way, Mike could use it to his advantage. So, Mike decided to turn up the charm.
"You look lovely today." Not as lovely as Alice, Mike added in his thoughts. Jinks was a cute girl, but Alice was a beautiful women. There was a big difference there. But Jinks didn't have to know that. "As always," Mike added with a wink.
"Fine. Just fine."
Don't lie to me, Mike thought indignantly, I know you have been missing your mother. Kelly may be blind, but I know. You may think no one sees you when you finger your locket and the single tear that rolls down your cheek almost every time, but I do. You can't hide it from me.
No remorse was included in Mike's thoughts, only anger. Jinks needed to get over her mother. Many people had been through far worse. Who was she to decide that she had it the worse and that she was going to pull everyone down with her? Mike almost scoffed out loud. If she only knew....
Mike stopped himself before he got really angry. Jinks was frustrating enough as it is, but if he dwelt on it there was no telling what he might do. He had to stay calm and keep control of his emotions before he jumped over the table and strangled her. That wouldn't be very charming.
"What about ya? Having a good day?"
No... "A wonderful day!" He grinned and continued, "Especially now that I am with you." Mike knew he was handsome and charming; he had been told many times. If Jinks didn't jump at this opportunity, then she was either blind or stupid. Mike was leaning toward the latter. If she didn't respond soon, Mike wasn't sure how long he could keep up this flirtatious facade.
"Is everything okay? Ya seem frustrated."
Pity party time. "Actually, I am. Well, not as much frustrated as disappointed." He sighed dramatically and rested his chin in his hands, giving Jinks the best puppy dog eyes. "Have you ever been stabbed in the back by someone you cared about?" Take the bait Jinks. It isn't that hard.

"You look lovely today."
"Thanks," she said yea sure I look 'lovely' as lovely as the boys when they get up in the morning. she thought. Her hair was a complete mess from trying to figure something’s out. She didn't have her necklace to mess with so now she's been messing with her hair, running her fingers threw it or just brading it.
"A wonderful day!" He grinned and continued, "Especially now that I am with you."
She so wanted to laugh and say 'that's so corny' but she didn't she laughed on the inside and said it inside her head. She hated when that happened then she would just be quiet for five hours trying not to tip anything off that it was completely stupid. If she did Mike would probably get mad at her and soak her or something. She really didn't want to get soaked just yet...maybe later.
"Have you ever been stabbed in the back by someone you cared about?"
"I don't know," she said and started to think did she ever had someone like that? Jack? Once in a while but not really that bad. Racetrack? Most likely yes...making me think that he is my friend but not really. Blink? Never! Mush? Never ever! So it was either Jack or Racetrack. But she might be in the back stabbing category now...since she kind of left the newsies for someone that almost everyone hated. Even Dreamer she is a back stabber to her own friend! "Jack and Racetrack I guess." she said, "Maybe myself.” she added looking down at her hands.
