Cole was born in Harlem new york. He has a twin brother, Blake. They may have been born into a wealthy family but their parents were horrid and they fought constantly. Cole was only 8 when he came downstairs to see his parents fighting. It was probably 2 in the morning, and everyone was asleep. He watched through the crack in the den door as his parents got agressive with each other, finally his fahter pulled a gun out and shot his mother, then he turned, sitting down at his desk, poured himself a brandy and tipped it back. He then lifted the gun to his head and shot himself. Cole never told anyone what he saw letting everyone believe he had slept through it. The police wouldnt tell them anything about what happened, but when their uncle heard about the will and how the father left the money to the boys but was allowing him to use it while he was their guardian he claimed them. Their uncle on the other hand was trying to get rid of the boys and after cole figured this out, he took blake and left.
They were about 11 at the time.
They werent newsies at first. Instead they did runs for important people. I twasnt always the safest and if anyone got screwed over they were killed. Cole soon started stealing some of the money they were running and when the bosses figured it out they came after the boys, but cole managed to get them out of it.
Then they found there way here, to the harlem lodging house. The leader before him had been quite an ass and sadistic. He and cole went head to head several times, but it was that in which gained their respects for each other. When the leader left he left cole in charge and hes been the leader for about 3 years now.
