ATTN: Alice Roosevelt was the real-life daughter of Theodore Roosevelt, who was governor of New York in 1899. She would have been 15 at the time of the Newsies strike, however, for this character I think it would be more beneficial for her to be older for the following reason. Although well-bred, she was very rebellious and strong-willed, especially at the age of seventeen. So, she would have most likely consorted with the lower-class newsies at this time. This character is based on the actual historical figure.
Full Name: Alice Lee Roosevelt
Name origin: The name of her mother, who died in childbirth
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Birthplace: West 57th Street, New York City
Currently Living: The Governor's Mansion
History: Alice was born on February 12, 1882 to Theodore Roosevelt and his wife, Alice Hathaway Lee. Two days after her birth, her mother died of Bright's disease. Theodore was so distraught he couldn't bear to be around his child. he lived in North Dakota for two years, leaving Alice (whom he called "Baby Lee") in the care of his sister Bamie. Alice called her Auntie Bye. For most of her life, Auntie Bye would be the only one whom Alice could really find support in. She would be reunited with her father at the age of two.
Her father soon remarried a woman named Edith Carow, and they would have five more children: Quentin, Ted Jr., Archie, Kermit and Ethel. Alice never had a good relationship with her father or her step-mother, regarding her step-mother as beautiful, but an absolute fool. Alice was shifted from residence to residence when her family didn't feel like dealing with her.
Hair Color: Brown
Hair Style: Prim and neat all the time.
Eye Color: Blue
Skin Color: Pale
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: Slender
Clothing Style: Flamboyant and expensive for the most part. She owns simpler gowns, but wearing them hasn't been within her best taste. She'll throw on a simple frock once in a while to displease her step-mother.
Items owned: Alice is slightly spoiled. She usually gets whatever she wants, and thus owns quite a bit. She can never pick out a favorite thing.
Troubles: Because she is the only child from Theodore's first marriage, she often feels like an outcast among her half-siblings. She isn't very well connected with either her father or her step-mother, and her rebellion often gets her into trouble. Headstrong, excessivly proud, and stubborn, she will never stop speaking her mind no matter what.
Fears: Alice fears only not being remembered. She is too proud to go down without knowing that her name gets in a book somewhere.
Siblings:
Theodore Roosevelt, Jr.
Ethel Roosevelt
Kermit Roosevelt
Archie Roosevelt
Quentin Roosevelt
Parents:
Theodore Roosevelt, Sr.
Alice Hathaway Lee (deceased)
Edith Carow Roosevelt (step-mother)
