NOTE: This character is (quite blatantly) based off the character of Evelyn from The Mummy. I claim no rights, etc, etc… But anyway, she’s not my thinking; I’m just putting her into this time period.
Full Name: Florence Nakia Claythorne
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Manchester, England
Currently Living: Queens, New York City
History: Gabriel Claythorne, a British archaeologist and Egyptologist, was on a dig in Cairo when he met Tale Massri, a young Egyptian woman. Immediately smitten with her beauty and intelligence, Gabriel began courting her, and with a creative mix of the Egyptian and English methods of doing so, soon won her heart.
Gabriel took Tale back to Manchester with him, and taught her how to be an Englishwoman. Tale legally changed her name to Tessa soon after her union, but never forgot her Egyptian heritage, and often returned to Egypt with her husband. However, she was still called Tale by her husband and family. Tale and Gabriel lived in a large house in Manchester for several years until the birth of their first child, Benjamin Ramses (it was mutually agreed among the couple that their children would have an English first name and an Egyptian middle name). Three years later, Harold Nen was born, and two years after that, Florence Nakia.
Florence had a keen intelligence from a young age. She was raised English, but her mother taught her of the Egyptian life, and young Flossie soon become very interested in Ancient Egypt. It was her passion growing up, and throughout her years she gained a reputation of being the bookish type. Flossie’s interests led her to travel to Egypt one day with her brothers, where they gained a sum of money for uncovering semi-valuable artifacts. Split between the three siblings, Florence found that she had just enough money to travel to America and start a life there, working with the Brooklyn Museum, a fervent dream of hers. She sailed over at the next opportunity.
Unfortunately, Florence was rejected as an employee of the museum. The administrator told her that her interest was more fanciful than practical, and so her employment would be rather pointless. Disappointed, Florence took up lodging in one of the apartments in Queens, and found work at the Public Library. She soon gained a reputation of being a knowledgeable, kind woman, with a zest for reading and learning.
Florence still keeps her passion for Ancient Egypt alive, trying to read as much as she can on the subject and always thirsting for more. She is saving some of her wages so that she can return there someday, and hopefully make an interesting archaeological find.
Florence is a bookworm and perhaps a little off-the-beam, but she is also extremely extroverted. She loves talking with people and is never afraid to strike up conversation. At times she may be considered a bit too bold or impulsive, but she likes to think of it as knowing how to get what she wants. Although adventurous, she has a bit of a homebody side.
Hair Color: Brown
Hair Style: Long, usually tied away from her face.
Eye Color: Green
Skin Color: Beige
Height: 5’ 8”
Weight: 138 lbs.
Clothing Style: Flossie concerns herself with a lady’s attire: dresses, skirts and blouses for the most part. She always tries to look polished and clean.
Items owned: Florence owns a small, but nice, apartment in Queens, among many other things, including an extensive private library of books regarding Ancient Egypt, everything from history to the language.
Troubles: Florence is too trusting with strangers. Because she will willingly talk to anyone, she often finds herself in bad situations. She is also slightly opinionated, and finds herself going off on tangents when she is angry. She’s also rather clumsy...perhaps not the best thing when you happen to be a librarian.
Fears: Florence hasn’t found any one thing that she is afraid of, but the things that anyone would be afraid of: death, snakes, and the like. She wasn’t brought up on fear, but she’s not completely without it.
Siblings: Benjamin Ramses, 37. Harold Nen, 34.
Parents: Gabriel and Tale/Tessa.
