Full Name: Bella Anne Braxton
Newsie name: She's often called "The Newsie Cutie" or "Beautiful"
Name origin: Well, obviously Bella is quite the stunner, and her name literally means "Beautiful" in Italian. Plus she was the first girl Newsie to be seen in New York, and therefore became the cutie among the newsies
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Birthplace: New York City, New York
Currently Living: Manhattan
History: (From Bella's Journal) ...Well, first off, I'm a Manhattan Girl! Always have been and always will be! Alot of my friends are from Manhattan too! We all lives in a little diggins hidden down the back alleys. It ain't much, but its ours! It's become the place for Newsie Girls from all over New York (I was gonna say it's become a refuge, but somehow that terminology don't quite woirk
We've become kinda a family, me, Jinx, Becky "Broadway" Pally, Penny "Freckles" Jazzy, Tommy Girl, and little Ringlets. As for me, most people thinks I'm a runaway. Well, that's sorta true, but then again sorta not. The truth is I wasn't always a Newsie. Hard to say, but I used to be one of those high society types.
Ya see I come from a pretty high-toned-fancy-to-do family, but my father was quite different from the rest of 'em. He used his money to help others who needed it more than he did, and unlike most of the Braxtons, my father actually married for love instead of money. Rare for a young man from his walk of life. Well, see, my grandma, she wasn't too pleased with the idea of one of her sons marryin beneath him, and when I was born, I think she saw an opportunity to get things back to the way they was.
I lived a good life with my folks. We was always quite the happy bunch, real close and all, and I always look back fondly on my childhood. We did well, financially speakin. Not as well as the family said we could have, but helpin' others was better than all the greenbacks in the world, to me. Course, when I was eight... my entire world collapsed. Ya see my folks went on a trip to Europe, Versailles, actually, to use their millions to help those across the seas, who suffered, while the fat cats lived in luxury. And well... they never came back. The headline read "Catastrophic Steamer Shipwreck, Billionaires Down in Flames." I gotta tell ya, that's one headline I wish I'd never read. Dearest Grandma, then decided to enact her plan to return the Braxton name to its "former glory," insisting that I go to live with her, in her fancy London Mansion, and learn "The social graces of a lady." It was everythin' my parents were against, and I refused to be somethin' that I ain't. So, the next mornin, call me crazy, but I stowed away on a smaller ship headed for New York, and became what I was meant to be, a Newsie. I've found hope on these crowded streets, and never have I felt so at home. I've made life-long friends, and I rise each mornin' proud to Carry Da Banner.
Hair Color: Chestnut Brown
Hair Style: Long, cascading spiral curls. Frames her face nicely. Sometimes she wears it in a messy bun.
Eye Color: She has daring emerald eyes that sparkle luminously
Skin Color: Fair
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 110 lbs
Clothing Style: Bella usually wears her favorite, worn out, brown plaid skirt, a loose white blouse, small leather boots, and her newsie cap. Occasionally she'll wear trousers with suspenders, especially if the weather isn't good.
Items owned: She doesn't have much, only a small, piece of eight medallion from 1722, that her father gave her for her eighth birthday, and a fine pearl comb that once belonged to her mother.
Troubles: Drake Camden, a young, arrogant, newspaper man from London, has found out that she's actually from a New York elitist family, and has pursued her, insisted upon their marrying, and attempts to tear her away from her one true love.
Fears: That one day, her old life might catch up with her.
Siblings: None, she's an only child.
Parents: Matthew and Emily Braxton (Died in a catastrophic steamer shipwreck on a trip to Versailles)
