Full Name: April Grace Snowe
Newsie name: April, Snow
Name origin: Her first name is April and her last name is Snowe.
Age:16
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Sherwood, Georgia
Currently Living: Manhattan
History: April was born a happy and healthy child. She had good parents, but they cared more about there job than there little girl. Her mother loved her, but her father had the last say in every matter, so when she was 4 years old and went blind by falling out of the hayloft, she was sent away to blind school. They sent her all the way to Pennsylvania and never once visited her in the 10 years that she resided there.
While she was there, she learned to play Violin quite well, and participated in a few school concerts. The staff was amazed at how quickly she caught onto it, and how independent and accepting of her blindness that she was. By the time she was 14 however, the school could no longer afford to keep her with them. They figured that because she was such an intelligent young lady, and had caught onto things pretty quickly, they could just send her out into the world.
They sent her out, and the blind girl became lost and confused. They had not prepared her properly for this entry into a whole new world, and she quickly became lost in the streets of New York. After about a week of sleeping on the streets and eating her rations from the school, she found her way to the docks in Brooklyn. Not knowing that she was on a dock however, she fell off and almost drowned. A newsie saved her though, and he told her about being a newsie and pushed her in the direction of Manhattan.
She showed up at the doorstep and they graciously took her in. Although she has to go with someone every time she sells so that she doesn't injure herself, she has found that being a newsie was quite alright. She soon began working part time for Medda at Irving Hall as a violinist as well.
Hair Color: Dirty Brown
Hair Style: Long, natural waves that come to about mid back.
Eye Color: Because she is blind, her once dark brown eyes have faded into an unseeing hazy Grey.
Skin Color: White
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 98 lbs
Clothing Style: April was raised in the Blind School, and they were brought up in proper attire. She is normally seen clad in a blue plaid dress that comes down to her ankles, but occasionally she will wear her green skirt and white blouse.
Items owned:A locket from her mother (without pictures) and the clothes on her back.
Troubles: Her quiet disposition generally covers up her temper. When she gets angry, she really gets angry. Being blind, she often stumbles into things, or gets poked fun at, and that is normally what triggers her anger.
Fears: What she can't see
Siblings: None
Parents: Tracy and Phillip Snowe
