Cowgirl sat at the bar, shifting from side to side in her bar stool as she gazed down into the brown liquid in her glass that she held in her hands. Her black cowgirl hat sat on the bar beside her hands and her black wavy hair fell in a curtain around her face as she sighed. Her thoughts were wrapped around so many things, Jack, Race, and Spot. What was she going to do, Spot was always worrying about Jinks, and Jack was beating himself up, and Race preoccupied himself with bets, she needed help, and she didn't know how she was going to tell them.

Note walked into the bar, he seriously needed a drink, or sleep.. but drinking was the easiest way out. Before he had thought just being a newsie was hard, trying to sell enough papes to get a good meal now and then. But now he needed another job, so that maybe he could have a little extra. He'd been going to job interviews all day, and had gotten turned down by each. He was looking for a job as a pianist, but idiotically, he hadn't practiced. So he was jobless.
He walked further into the bar until he found an empty stool. On one side there was a girl, and on the other an old fat Irish fellow. He figured it'd be nice to save the young lady from his fatness, so he sat between them.
"Ya know, dat stuff ain't good for youse.." He said talking about her drink. He knew it wasn't good for you - after all, it only got you into trouble.

Cowgirl looked up at the sound of the boy's voice,"hmmm? oh well, dat may be true, but I ain't doin' so good anyway, so maybe it'll jus' make tings worse, and numb it away, if not, I can always go back ta da lodgin' house and puke my brains out and maybe den someone'll care bout it..."she said thinking abit out loud, and saying more than she meant to.
"I'm sorry, uh how rude of meh, da name's Cowgirl by the way,"she said offering her hand to him.

"Note." He said raising an eyebrow. He took her hand and clasped it tightly, shaking it slowly. He had not expected that. He had forgotten how women could get offended easily. When he wasn't feeling great he put on a fake smile, and went on with life - thats how he was taught. But it must not have been so easy for women.
"Sorry ta be like dat, I just tryin' to keep people safe - dats all." He said as the bartender walked towards him "I'll have a beer.." he said speaking to the man. He waited patiently until his beer came, and took a sip. He didnt' really like beer - or any alcohol for that matter. It alwasy made him sick when he smelt it, or crazy when he drank it.

Cowgirl nodded and looked down before taking a small drink and looking up at him again as she tilted her head and her hair toppled to one side as she rested her head against the palm of her hand,"I'm sure if I get sick or sometin, I'll be well taken care of, I got three great boys who are always dere fer me when i need em most, and of course dey're always great ta me....."she muttered as she looked him over abit better for a moment, her eyes sparkling.
She couldn't help but feel like she should know him and then it clicked, she'd heard Spot and Jack talking about him before he was Leader of Harlem, of course. She smiled abit as she made this realization the 3rd leader she now knew, not as well as the other two, but it was always good to know the leaders.

"Well, why ya tellin' me?" He asked joking, "You tink I care?" He didin't know how much she had already had to drink, so he was trying to be careful about what he said.
He took another sip, and almost barfed. 'Uhg..' he thought, 'As long as it makes me happy eventually..'

"You were da one tellin' me ta be careful so's I was tellin' ya I'll be alright, I know of you by da way, Jack and Spot have talked bout ya a few times before I tink,"she said as she took another drink. "I'm one of Jackyboy's newsies, and childhood friends, so's I'm sure ya know him right?"she asked just making sure.

"Oh yeah?" He said curiously, "Wad they say 'bout me?" He liked the leaders he had met, and thought he had made a great first impression.
"Yeah, I know Jack." He said, "Great guy, he takes good care of all his newsies." Note thought about his newsies, and how he should take better care of them. He hadn't really 'talked' to any of them yet. Not seriously anyway. He'd been to busy with selling, and trying to get another job.

Cowgirl shook her head abit,"I really never payed much attention to what they said, I jus' heard dem mention yer name a few times, none of it sounded bad, Jack normally isn't one ta talk badly bout any newsie, and if he does it's normally cuz you's done sometin unforgivable,"she said as she took another drink from her glass.
"Yeah, he takes good care of everybodeh, he's amazin'"she muttered.

"Hmm.. I guess thats good." He said half laughing. "You got yourself a good leadah kid." He took another swig. The fat man beside him got up and left, leaving the seat empty.
"Youse an Cowboy got somptin' for each udda?" He asked, hoping she wouldn't take it the wrong way. Her name was Cowgirl - his, Cowboy, he figured that meant something..

Cowgirl smirked at the question, she had gotten suspicions from people about the name,"nah, nuthin romantic or anythin, we's good friends but dats bout it.....if there were more then jus' dat then I'd prolly be outta my bad predicament,"she muttered as she took another drink and smiled at the thought of being with Jack as more than a friend.... but she knew it was a long shot, they were just friends.
She shook her head abit shaking the thoughts away and ordering another drink, as the bar tender set a new glass infront of her and took the old. She took a drink of the new one and looked sideways at Note abit,"what about you? Your a leadeh, do ya got anyone your smittin wit?"she asked curiously.
