Name origin: Magician MacVee got his newsie nickname when he was standing on the corner showing people magic tricks instead of selling his papers. Of course this was back in Five Points when the older kids ran around stealing or trying to get into the gangs.

History: Magician MacVee was born in a small village in County Clare Ireland. His parents scrimped and saved to get passage across the pond to New York where they had heard life would be easier for them and their children.
But America was not the dream that they had been promised, they found themselves in five points struggling in cramped spaces to survive. Seamus's father got a job at the docks and his mother one as a seamstress. While his younger siblings found shoe shiner jobs and the like Seamus found selling papers to be his calling--(next to weaving a good yarn that is). People liked his sing song voice and bright attitude more then willing to buy a paper form a grubby boy who seems so bloody happy.
Happiness ended one night when a gang fight broke out in the square and his father rushed out to join the frey. It was honor they were fighting for then. Honor and turf and pride but his father was killed.
Soon after his mother grew ill, she was a sunny bright woman that gave Seamus his good humor, it took her falling in love with her own doctor to make her health return and she remarried, taking both of Seamus's little siblings to Manhattan to live with the man.
By that time Seamus has made a name for himself so he decided he could have more fun if he stayed on the streets. How that seemed logical no one really knows but what they do know is that Magician MacVee is a happy man when he's got money and when he doesn't.
