"It was scary," he admitted. "I didn't have time to panic though. I just knew I had to get away from the river so that's what I did. It woulda been horrible if I would have gotten carried away. Just think that had happened I wouldn't even be here with ya right now," Thad thought of how terrible that would be.
"I'll bet it was scary!" Street said. "Yeah, ya might have been, oh, I don't know, in Jersey?" Street grinned. "But, yeah, it would be horrible." She nodded, assuring him of this. She could only imagine him not here beside her, it was too horrid. She would be alone... Street bit her lip to stop herself from crying.

"Well I guess we got God to thank for not lettin' me get washed away," he smiled placing a hand on her shoulder. The bridge was only about ten feet away. Thad sighed. He was glad he'd gotten his friend back to her home safe and sound, but that just meant that he had to leave. He thought about the walk back in the dark- that wasn't what bothered him. No, it was the fact that he would be on his own again. The wind seemed colder as he thought about it. "Well, we're here," Thad said turning to Street.

"Well I wouldn't want ya to slip and get hurt," Thad smiled. "I better come and make sure ya get under the bridge safe and sound." He continued to walk with her. He was glad he could drag this day out even if it were only for a few minutes longer.
