Goldie Freeman sat at the table in the very back of the library. She was surrounded by books, thick ones, thin ones, ones in English, and ones in languages she didn't quite know. She sighed, rubbed her eyes, and pushed the latest enclopedia away from her.
College was harder then she thought. Not only did she have to make up four years of missed schooling, but she had to handle foreign classes. Latin, Greek, Greek literature. Goldie had made the mistake of telling the girl who sat next to her that she barely spoke English. The girl had tossed her hair and turned her back on her. And to make it worse, no one would sit near her in any of the classes.
Goldie pushed these thoughts away and hailed the very old, very kind looking librarian. "Excuse me sir, do ya happen to have any Greek literature. See, I need to study it, but I couldn't pay for my own copy." Goldie informed him sadly.
The librarian came back a few moments later with a very large book on a cart. With prodigious effort, he slammed it on her table. Goldie coughed as dust flew up in her face. "Thank ya."
Goldie sighed and turned the first, delicate page. This book had been published before she was born! Probably before Mason had been born! Goldie shook her head, amazed. Then, pushing up her sleeves, she commenced writing her paper on Ancient Greek Literature.
