Full Name: Fredrick Jamenson, Fred, Freddy.
Newsie name: Chance
Name origin: Chance's specialty was chances. Unlike his twin brother, Shadow, Chance likes to be daring and impulsive. Whatever he did, he did without second thought. Out of the two, Chance is the one that would jump into a pound stark naked. You could say he was the right side of the brain, the crazy, thoughtless side.
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Birthplace: St. Louis, Missouri
Currently Living: Manhattan, New York
History:
Sylvia Pace was 16 when he had his way with her. No matter what she said, he wouldn't stop. She knew him well; he was a family friend. That hurt her more than anything. 3 months later Sylvia realized she had missed her cycle three times. Her father was angry, to say the least. Even though she swore it wasn't her fault, her father believed it was a choice she made with her boyfriend. 6 months later twins were born. Her father forced her to give them away to someone she didn't even know. It broke her heart. She died a year later. Some say of a broken heart, some say it was suicide.
Theodore and Fredrick grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. They always knew they were adopted, but that is all they knew. They grew up in a close community. Some called it a cult, others called it a religion. Neither of them knew any better. This was how they'd been raised. This didn't mean they agreed with it. In fact, both of them wanted out. They didn't agree that one man should have multiple wives. They didn't agree that young girls should be forced to marry men two times their age. Both of them wanted out, but both of them were scared. Finally, after 16 years of that, Teddy and Freddy left. They couldn't stand it any longer. They fled to New York in search of a new life.
When they were younger, Teddy and Freddy were great friends. That was before their eyes were opened to the truth. At about 13 they went their separate ways; not physically, but mentally. Teddy became quiet and stayed in the shadows, while Freddy became exuberant and loud. Each of them handled their pain differently. They are still great friends and talk all the time, but now they are on opposite sides of New York, on completely different sides
Freddy lives in the Manhattan lodging house. He fits in wonderfully with the crazy Manhattaners. Lately, things have changed. A man, named Mike D. Greaser, has come back and is fighting to tear apart the newsies. Freddy is for the Manhattan newsies, all the way. Unfortunately, his brother is on the opposite side. He is working for Mike as a spy in the Harlem newsie. Both of them try to convince the other to change his ways, but neither of them will be swayed.
Being an identical twin with someone is hard. But being an identical twin to someone who is on the opposite side as you is even harder. They are fighting for the same thing, but in a different way. They still love each other and will always love each other, but they know that sooner or later they are going to have to choose a side. They just choose to push this decision to the side.
