History: David was born in Manhattan, New York to Esther and Mayer Jacobs. He lived a normal life with his so-called perfect family. He went to school with his brother and sister; Les and Sarah, and he did the normal things a kid did. When he was sixteen his father got hurt at the factory, and all of the Jacobs' kids chipped in to help their family. Sarah sewed and sold doilies, and David and Les became newsies. That's when David's life changed forever.
He met Jack Kelly, and the rest of the newsies on his first day. The two became friends, as Jack showed him the tricks of the newsie world. A few days later, they went on strike. David learned more things just in those few weeks than he probably learned in his entire life.
After the strike ended, David continued to be a Manhattan newsie. He considers it his escape, and he couldn't ask for anything more.
