History:Everything was going great in the O'Rourke household. Mr. O'Rourke was a successfull banker in Chicago, he had a beautiful wife, and his family would soon expand with the birth of a child, a baby boy to take over his fathers buisness of course. This as all wonderfull, until the pregnancy began to take its toll on the lovely Mrs. O'Rourke. She was assigned to bedrest a month earlier than was usual, and was told she was having not one child, but twins.
Alice was born the eldest and Tyler was born eleven minutes later though everyone outside of the family believed Tyler was the eldest. The twins were born in the evening, and by morning Mrs. O'Rourke had fallen ill. Their father would often sit with his wife before he left for work and when he arrived back home but he didnt see the children much and so they grew up under the watchfull eye of their nannys.
Being an important banker, Mr. O'Rourke often entertained guests. The first night that the twins were to be introduced to their fathers guests, tyler slipped out of his room and introduced himself to the guests. This made his father very angry and after the guests left, He beat tyler and reprimanded him for good children should be seen and not heard. He had done this before, since tyler could remember he was being beaten because he was not what his father wanted, he wasnt the eldest and he showed no interest in numbers or banking.
Alice was always there to take care of him and hold him as he cried even though she already had the burden of taking care of their mother. After that night, Tyler never spoke again.
When their mother died, his father began beating Alice as well. something he had tried to prevent from happening. She still stuck with him through his pain thought, never complaining about hers. They were forced to put on faces for the company that they were shown off to like dogs because they knew if they didt they would pay for it.
After two years of this they came up with a plan and together they escaped in the day leaving all of their fancy clothes and expensive hollow things behind. Those things meant nothing to them.
The children roamed the streets of chicago and found that they could make money by selling newspapers so thats what they did while they managed to avoid the police who were searching for the runaway wealthy kids.
Because tyler didnt talk alice did all the talking and he just stood next to her like a prop. He would hold hold the papers and look pitiful while she hawked headlines. Both of their methods got people to buy papers and they got by alright. Some of the other kids thought that Tyler was a weirdo because he didnt talk and they began to call him phantom cause he didnt seem like a real person to them, he was just there. These kids started picking fights with him and alice would always step up and beat off anyone who said or tried anything because he didnt know how to defend himself. She began to teach tyler how to defend himself after jokingly telling him that her knuckles hurt from defending him and soon he was able to hold his own on a fight.
A police officer recognized them one day when it was so hot that alice had to take off her hat fora few minutes which meant that her hair was down. He began to chase them through town but they narrowly escaped. They didnt know what to do or where to go but as they walked they came across a railroad yard. Without thinking they stowed away on the first train they saw. They were 18 now and didnt know what they would do when they arrived at the trains destination, New york.
