Jack had been reminiscing upstairs when he heard frenzied knocking on the door below. He ignored it at first, assuming someone else would take care of it. When the knocking persisted for a while, Jack rolled his eyes and got up in a slight huff, wondering why it felt like he was doing more work around here than he had to.
He got downstairs and flung open the door to see Starsage, the girl he recognized as the new leader of the Bronx. He hadn't talked to her all too much yet, but had certainly heard about her. He rasied an eyebrow at her. "What brings you here?" he asked. The leaders usually had newsies go out and send messages. A personal message from a leader was never good news.

((Haha, that's okay. I think everyone wants to be Brooklyn, eh? )) Jack glared at her as she stepped past him. She seemed to be making herself at home. But he decided to see what was so important before he called her out on that. When she mentioned Cowgirl, Jack's interest was sparked. She was one of his newsies, and it was apparent that something had happened. "They were taking her to the refuge!"Jack's eyes flashed. "The refuge?" he echoed, intensity rising in his voice. He stood directly in front of Starsage. "How long ago?" He needed answers from her, and help, too. He would have to get all his kids together and figure something out before it was too late...but it would be even worse if they acted too early.

Jack shook her hand briefly. "I know who you is. Bronx leader." He paced around for a moment, thinking hard. They had to get Cowgirl out of the refuge somehow. But how could they? Security had tightened, the old methods were nearly exhausted. It would be a miracle if they could get on the roof like they used to do.
Jack looked at Starsage. "She'll be in there by now. I dunno how we're getting in. But you gotta help." He wasn't sure how she could help at the moment, but he was sure he would need her assistance eventually.

"Okay, I'll do whatever ya need. Should we get Colon or maybe one of the other leaders?"
It wouldn't be a bad idea, Jack thought, but would Spot really care? The two were friends, without a doubt, but Jack had his reserves on whether Spot would send help for one kid taken to the refuge. Brooklyn had its own problems. But this was something they needed kids for, and smart ones at that. Although Jack considered himself plenty smart, they needed someone smarter.
At long last, Jack nodded. "Get Spot. I'll go, too."
