Jester finally stopped. She looked behind her to see if they were still following her, but she didnt see them. Shed run all the way from Brooklyn and they had kept on her for quite some time, she really had no idea when she had lost them.
jester was breathing heavily, leaning herself against the tree thankful for the shade it provided as she went about to regain her breath.
She slid herself down the tree, groaning. 'ow.. ow ow.."She pulled her back from the tree and frowned, rubbing her shoulder. It was her back that had scraped against the bark, but she couldnt reach her back. "Smaht Jest.."She saaid. 'Real Smaht." shaking her head she rested back against the tree again resting her head back against the tree and closed her eyes as she cooled down.

Racetrack had been standing near the statue of Greeley, brooding about the headline again, when someone bolted past him. He followed the running figure, ready to track the progress of whoever was persuing them as well (finally, a little excitement!) but there was no one. Dissapointed, he watched with lackluster as the one who had ran past him, a girl, leaned against a tree and slid down the trunk.
He would have left it alone, but she looked like she might have hurt something for a second there. The least he could do was offer a hand if she needed it. Snuffing his cigar on the pavement, he strode over and asked, "Well and good, kiddo?"

Jesters eyes opened and she looked up at the boy in front of her. She tilted her head a bit and smirked some, tipping her hat back on her head when it had fallen forward in her eyes. "Race?"She asked.
She didnt know him personally but she was a regular at the tracks not to mention she was also at a lot of the poker games. She was usually good at remembering faces and names just not together until she actually saw them.
She pushed herself up. "yeah..."She said, "just.. um.. you know... runnin"she smirked giving him a completely innocent look that at the same time said she was full of crap.

"Race?"
He didn't quite know how she knew him...maybe she'd heard of him or seen him somewhere. But he didn't recognize her at all, and said, not unfriendly, "Who's askin'?" She seemed okay, which meant he didn't have to feel too sorry for her. Still, she ran in the square like a shot, and he was overall curious as to what she had been running to or from.
"just.. um.. you know... runnin"
She gave Race a look that he knew well. A lot of the kids gave Jack the look when they were caught doing something they shouldn't have been doing, Racetrack included. He knew there was more, and he was also curious as to what it was. "Yeah, I figg'ered that much out. Runnin' from what?"
