Jinks was sitting on Horace Statue, swinging her legs back and forth. She saw her brother and Les run down the street selling their papers and then there was a guy chasing after them. "Of course," she mumbled, she only bought ten papers today she didn't feel like selling really.
She saw Dreamer having trouble selling, the poor girl. She tries so hard. Dreamer was one of Jinks' best friends in the world; she couldn't help but feel bad for her. Then Dreamer went out of sight. She took off her hat then tried to make sure the hat hair wasn't that bad.
She saw someone from the corner of her eye, she turned and saw Mush. Jinks smiled at him, Mush was another one of her close friends. He was another older brother that looks out for her. "Hey Mush, how’s the sellin?" she asked seeing his paper under his arm.

Mush walked down the streets of Manhattan. He breathed the air, it smelt like newspapers, smoke, and dirt. He wrinkled his nose, New York wasn't the best place to get fresh air. But it was his home, he couldn't leave his home. Too many memories resided there.
Today was a normal day. He woke up, said something incredibly witty to Jack, making all of the boys roll their eyes. He got smacked in the face by Race a few times, and after protesting Race would always say, "Its a 'Love tap' not a hit." And then off to the Distribution Center to get his forty five papers. So far, so good. He was almost done.
"Hey Mush, how’s the sellin?"
He looked up to see Jinks. She was Jack's younger sister, and was one of his friends. He looked out for her, because he didn't want anything bad to happen to her. If something bad happened to her, Jack would be upset and he hated when someone was upset. He smiled, "The sellin's good, how is it for you?" He asked.

"The sellin's good, how is it for you?"
"It's good," she said and smiled, "I'm all done, no papers left either." she bragged, she loved how little papers she gets when she doesn't really want to sell. She told Race the same thing and he started going off on how it was so easy for girls, then she told him that she only had ten. She loved how she can do that to her friends.
"I can see ya almost done." Jinks pointed out and smiled. She loved Mush, as a brother that is. He always seemed like the best newsie to her. Most people thought she looked up to Jack but she looked up to Mush, and Kid Blink but Kid Blink was just plane funny.

"I'm all done, no papers left either."
Mush grinned, "Oh really? Did you start out with ten again?" He asked. He knew Jinks would sometimes only buy a few papers when she didn't feel like selling. It was a smart strategy, Mush even did that when he was younger. But he didn't make much money, so that ended that plan pretty fast.
Besides, he learned from Jack; the best seller in Manhattan. That helped him out a lot. Selling became a lot easier, and he enjoyed it. It was a good feeling when he could buy forty something papers a day and have them all sold by five o'clock. It was a feeling of accomplishment, and Mush loved that feeling.
"I can see ya almost done."
He beamed, "Yep, I'm almost done. Some snooty guy gave me a nickel tip for some reason, so that was the best thing that happened to me today. What about you?" He asked. He was proud about his nickel, he could take one of the girls he met out tonight.

"Oh really? Did you start out with ten again?"
Jinks looked around, "Maybe," she said "but that doesn't matter at least I sold some." she said she jumped off the statue and next to Mush.
"Yep, I'm almost done. Some snooty guy gave me a nickel tip for some reason, so that was the best thing that happened to me today. What about you?
Jinks smiled back at him. "Mush you're too cute so of couse you'd get a tip." she said "The best thing that happened was that I saw Jack being chaced by an old guy." she smiled wider and looked at him. "you need any help? Like Race says it's easier for girls." she added.

"Maybe, but that doesn't matter at least I sold some."
Mush raised an eyebrow, normally when Jinks didn't sell many papers she needed money later on in the week for random things. Since Jack always said no, she came to him. Mush was too big of a softy to say no, and it caused him to lose his own money. Maybe he should stop trying to win at poker with Racetrack...
"Mush you're too cute so of couse you'd get a tip."
He blushed, "Aw, gee thanks." He said with a smile. Jinks' compliments always made him feel better. It was a rare moment when Mush was upset or anything like that, but in those rare moments there were only a few people who could cheer him up. One of them being Jinks.
"The best thing that happened was that I saw Jack being chaced by an old guy."
"Jack got chased by an old guy?!" Mush exclaimed, laughing. The mental image of Jack running down the street with an old man chasing him was priceless.
"you need any help? Like Race says it's easier for girls."
Mush frowned, "Nuh-uh, its easier if you're cute and adorable like me. Race ain't got any of those qualities so he blames it on the girls." He said with a teasing wink. Selling was easier for girls, especially when they're younger. If you were younger you could sell just about anything.

"Aw, gee thanks."
"No problem Mushy." she said and pinched his cheek. He always hates that; pinching cheeks and the name 'Mushy'. That's the number one reasons why she does that. She could always get him to cheer up after she gets him down. Mush soon started to laugh after Jinks told him that Jack was being chased.
"Yea him and Les. I feel bad for Les but Jack had it commin." said Jinks and smirked. "I love watchin him run." she said and watched them run by again, then started laughing.
"Nuh-uh, its easier if you're cute and adorable like me. Race ain't got any of those qualities so he blames it on the girls."
Jinks laughed some more. "Well yea, but I'm cuter and more adorable than ya," she said and winked "Ya kow it's true!" she said and took one of his news papers and sold it to a woman walking by. "See," she said and smirked.
