Mimi walked down the dark streets, not really knowing where she ways. "You think that by living here for two years, I'd know where I'd be!" She muttered to herself. Even though she has been living in New York for two years, being alone at night still worried her. She had overheard horrible stories from other people, and they scared her. Not that Mimi would ever think about saying that to anybody, nobody would ever know. Her sharp, green eyes kept their lookout, and her slim, pale hands played with her brown curls. She clenched her jaw, and frowned as she looked up at the street sign, it said; 'Madison'.
"Madison?" Mimi thought, "How is that supposed to help me?!" Her sensible side screamed at her for not asking for directions. Yet, her free-spirited side was excited that she was in a new territory, and was ready for the adventure. Mimi usually gave in with her free spirit, and she allowed that to take her further down the street.

Rainey, for the first time in a long time, found himself wishing that he was back home in Scotland instead of New York City. Lost, becoming angry, and now low on cash, he wandered around until something more familiar caught his eye. Disappointed in himself, he knew he should have paid more attention to where he was going.
A young girl was making her way down the street, and Rainey hoped she knew where she was at. She appeared confident enough- then again, his judgment could very well be far off. Everyone in New York seemed to have that look to them.
"Aye, lassie," he called out to get her attention, hoping she spoke English. "You happen to know where the bloody hell Ah'm at?" He drew nearer to the girl, and it seemed that it quickly became a fifty/fifty chance of the girl knowing her whereabouts.

Mimi still was trying to figure out where she was when she heard someone call out. She looked up and saw a man. She bit her lip, and felt an instant coldness fly through her small body.
You happen to know where the bloody hell Ah'm at?
"Great." She thought to herself, "He's not going to be any help." She shook her head. "No sir." She replied, "If I did, I wouldn't be here right now." She sighed and muttered under her breath. "I wish I did, I need to get back." Mimi looked around, "From my guesses, we're in Manhatten. Where at? I have no idea." She crossed her arms across her chest.

Frowning, Rainey was quite disappointed. Manhattan- well, that didn't help much. He knew that, what he didn't know was the specifics. He couldn't help but snort a bit, however, when he realized that she was lost as well.
"Oh, brilliant. Neither of us know where we're at. Wot's the chances of that, really?" He was more or less thinking aloud, and he hoped that his words didn't appear harsh to the kid. Woman, whatever she was- it was hard to tell.
"Aye, okay. Where are you trying to go?" It was a start, no matter how much of a lame one it might be.

Mimi rolled her eyes, "Honestly." She pursed her lips, "And of course its just my luck to be lost on the one night I was alone and in an unfamillar territory." She leaned up against the wall behind her, shaking her head slightly. "I can't believe this."
She sighed slightly, "Well, I'm headed toward the Bronx, I have no idea where it is from here, as we just learned." Mimi smirked, and shook her head again. "What are the chances?" She huffed, and was obviously unhappy about the situation.

Rainey raised an eyebrow. "Yer mum know yer out, wandering Manhattan at nicht?" He would whoop his child's ass if they even ever considered running around this place at night, or even during the day for that matter. Shrugging, he shoved his hands deeper into his pockets, a bit of frustration building in his stomach. He should have just let the little girl walk alone.
The Bronx. He knew that area, but he was currently unaware of how to get from here to there. If it wasn't for his successful opium den, he would be packing and taking the next liner to Scotland tomorrow- granted he could find the docks.
Sighing, he gave another shrug. "Ah'm sorry Ah'm not of much help. Ah apparently asked the wrong person for directions...." trailing off, he felt wrong to just leave her and walk away on his own. What if she got stolen by some brute, hairy men? Or mugged or something equally worse? Rainey would feel like a royal ass if he ever heard about it.
"Aye, well you can't walk around here all by yerself."

Mimi glared at him, "My mother and I do not speak anymore." She could feel her blood boil, anytime someone brought up her parents she got angry. She scowled, "I don't need her anyways, I'm not a child." She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, she closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the wall.
She smirked, "Its alright, anywhere but here I'd be able to show you where to go. Manhatten isn't my area." Which was true, she knew her way around everywhere else except Manhatten, Harlem and Brooklyn. "Where are you heading?" She asked him, her green eyes scanning over him.
"I guess not." She paused, "They call me Mimi."

"Well, yer not a snarly bitch or anything, aye?" Rainey hoped his sarcasm was apparent in his words, and he rose an eyebrow as she continued to get overly dramatic upon the mention of parents. "You look like one, and with that attitude, you're greatly resembling a bitter child."
It was the truth, and he was tactful in its delivery- save, maybe, his former statement about her being a bitch. Sighing, he realized that sitting here and arguing with a girl over her state of family issues wasn't going to get him anywhere.
"Harlem," he told her, trying to get back his bearings. Madison. He'd need to head north, get back to Central Park, and he'd know his way back then. He really needed to know the midtown area a lot better before he started walking places.
"Aye. Mimi," he repeated, the name sounded odd on his Scottish tongue. "Rainey." Pausing, he sighed. "Okay, yer more north than me if you want to get to the Bronx. If it gets too late, Ah'll pay for a streetcar to get you home." With that, he started walking up the street.

Mimi was shocked, that wasn't exactly the reply she'd expected, especially coming from a stranger she just met. She looked down at the ground, trying to tune out his 'speech'. She's heard it all before, one too many times. "Well thanks." She said sweetly. "I'm glad to know I'm a bitter child, not like I knew that before." Her words were harsh, but had a sickly-sweet ring to them. She rolled her eyes and clenched her jaw again.
Her gaze was still locked on him, she didn't exactly trust him. Then again, Mimi didn't trust anybody. She nodded in response when he told her his name.
Okay, yer more north than me if you want to get to the Bronx. If it gets too late, Ah'll pay for a streetcar to get you home.
She watched him walk up the street before she decided that she would go with him. It was either stay lost, or take up his offer and go home. She cautiously ran after him.
