Sarah stepped onto the street and sighed in content. She was overjoyed when he mother asked her to go get them some groceries. . She had been in stuck in her house all day sewing with her mother, and was feeling quite antsy. She loved her mother, but sometimes Sarah thought that she didn't believe in fresh air. Being stuck in that house all day might drive her insane.
Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, she was on her way. She had a basket tucked under her right arm and a bonnet atop her head. She walked with a slight bounce, completely enjoying this day.
Before she realized what she was doing and before she could react, she ran into something... or someone. Her basket fell and the contents went everywhere. "I am so sorry." She glanced up into the face of a young man. He smirked and nodded slightly at her. He took of his hat and addressed her, "It's not a problem, miss. Here, let me help ya.." He bent down and gathered her groceries. She thanked him quietly and curtsied, her mothers manners automatically kicking in. Grabbing her basket from him and nodding at him once more, she was on her way.
She continued on for a few more minutes, purchasing things here and there. She stopped suddenly as she felt arms around her waist. "Heya, Sarah..." She giggled as an all to familiar voice tickled her ear. She turned around, with his arms still around her, and replied. "Hey Jack," She grinned widely.
((this looks familiar, huh?))

Jack's selling had been going well (what else was new?) and his selling had brought him to Broome Street, a good place to sell because there were always people with money. He made a sale to some old laundresses, a gentleman who probably just bought one so Jack would go away and let him on his way, and a vendor who needed something to wrap a fresh batch of fishes in. Jack had a way with timing.
He certainly did, he thought with a smirk, because he could see Sarah walking in front of him, standing at a vendor's cart. He glanced at the pile of papers under his arm. He only had a few more left to sell...surely he could take a detour to flirt a little? He quickened his pace, making his footsteps quiet, and took Sarah from behind, "Heya, Sarah..." he said with a smile.
She turned in his arms. "Hey Jack." She smiled at him, the usual responce to any girl seeing him, he thought smugly. He grinned back at her and reached up a hand to fiddle with her bonnet strings suavely. "I saw you walkin' and thought I'd check up on ya..." He knew he could be a jerk, but when he wanted to he could be pleasant and, without a doubt, smooth.

"I saw you walkin' and thought I'd check up on ya..."
Sarah's smile widened as he played with her bonnets strings. She smirked playfully, "Is that all you wanted?" She raised her eyebrows and leaned in to kiss him lightly on the lips. She loved Jack for many reasons. One of them would have to be that he was her escape. Her escape from doing everything her mother wanted, her escape from being proper, and her escape from life. Call her a hopeless romantic, but she didn't care.
"So, what are you doing today?" She knew the answer, selling papers, but she was just making conversation. It was easy and comfortable for them.

"Is that all you wanted?"
"You tell me..." he said, returning the smirk, and kissed her back warmly, leaning in when she pulled away to make it linger. He recieved several sharp stares from some passers-by, and he knew they probably shouldn't make a habit of kissing on the street. People looked down on it, and the last thing he needed was the bulls after him for anything else. He couldn't imagine why folks didn't approve. Personally he was quite a fan of kissing...
"So, what are you doing today?"
Keeping an arm around her waist, he held up his small stack of remanining papers. "Sellin', what else?" he said with a slight shrug. He was about to go off and sell him remanining fifteen or so, but then again it was something rare to see Sarah out on the street. Jack knew she was usually doing household chores. He glanced from the papers to her, and with a glint in his eye he said, "I dunno...think I sold enough today?"

A huge grin was plastered on her face as they pulled away. She knew she probably looked goofy, but she loved kissing him. In fact, she would probably have kissed him longer if they were not standing in middle of the street...
"Sellin', what else? I dunno...think I sold enough today?"
She smiled at him warmly. Her gaze fell on his face and she took in his features. He was defiantly handsome, and she knew most girls were jealous of her. She loved the way his hair fell in his face... She realized she had been staring, blushed and looked away quickly. "Oh, um, well you could finish selling, or you could help me finish grocery shopping..." She raised her eyes and nudged him playfully with her hip. She knew shopping probably did not sound like the most fun thing in the world.

"Oh, um, well you could finish selling, or you could help me finish grocery shopping..."
Jack grinned at little, but it seemed faltered. It looked as if neither option would be very entertaining. He had a choice between making money or going around with Sarah...and honestly, both had their benefits. Sarah was, of course, Sarah. And he would spend time with her as much as he could. But he needed to eat tonight, and he didn't know what he could buy with what he had, and buy his papes for tomorrow.
Finally, he decided that fifteen papes out a hundred could go unsold. It wasn't often he got to see Sarah. He grinned at her, and out of the corner of his eye saw a Long Island newsboy passing, trying to get people to buy. "I'll be back...hang on..." He gave her a peck on the cheek and walked off towards the kid. "Hey, kid," he called, and shoved the papes into the kid's arms. "Take these. Outta the goodness of my heart..."
The kid, who looked to be about a year younger than Jack staggered a little. "But I don't want no more papes!"
"Hey, it's free. You gotta take what you can get..." Jack turned away from the kid. "Best of luck..." He walked back to Sarah, grinning. "Now. I got that taken care of...so what're ya doin' here?"
((A little cruddy...sorry...))

"I'll be back...hang on..."
Sarah nodded and grinned as he pecked her on the cheek. She bit her lip and watched in amusement at the following scene. Jack approached a boy about his age and shoved some papers in his hands. The boy didn't seem to happy about this and argued with Jack. He waved him off and turned back to her. She grinned mischievously and said, "Harass the poor boy..." She smirked and chuckled.
"Oh, just shopping for Mama..." She held up her basket like he did with his papers. "What else?" She said the last part sarcastically, mocking what he had said earlier.
((It's okay, mines no better haha!))

"Harass the poor boy..."
"It ain't harassin', it's givin' the fella a present. From my pocket to his, see?" Jack had bought the papers with his own money, and he considered giving some kid an opportunity to sell them as giving the kid some money. Granted, it didn't look like the guy was having such a good time trying to sell off all his papes, and an extra fifteen might just weigh him down, but still. Jack could have gotten money for those papes.
"Oh, just shopping for Mama...what else?"
Jack rolled his eyes. "Enjoyin' yourself?" he asked, knowing she would answer in the negative. He could tell she wasn't too happy about being out on an errand for her mother. But maybe he could help her out a little by spending the time with her. Usually inconsiderate, Jack would help Sarah if she needed it, though not many other people.

"It ain't harassin', it's givin' the fella a present. From my pocket to his, see?"
Sarah laughed and winked at him, "Sure, sure. Whatever you say..." She turned back to the street and started on her way. Jack had his arm around her waist again and even this small touch sent chills up her spine. She was glad she had met up with him today and wanted to spend the day with him. She glanced down at her basket and made a face at it. She would much rather be doing something else. True, she only had a few things left, but still.
"Why don't we finish up and bring them back to Mama and then spend the day together?" She looked at him and raised her eyebrows.
"Enjoyin' yourself?"
Sarah laughed and shook her head. "No, not really, well I wasn't, but now things are a little bit better..." She winked at him and smiled.

"Why don't we finish up and bring them back to Mama and then spend the day together?"
Jack frowned a little. He didn't like to wait too long for anything. But the sooner Sarah finished what she was doing, the sooner she could spend the time with him. He shrugged. "I'll go along for a while. You can finish whatever you're doing...an' then we'll have the rest of the day?" Again, it wasn't often he got to spend time with Sarah. Usually when he got to see her it was in the Jacobs' home, and Les always wanted half of Jack's attention, and David sometimes couldn't take a hint. Some time between the two of them was rare, and Jack didn't want to waste too much of it.
"No, not really, well I wasn't, but now things are a little better..."
"I'm glad," Jack said, stealing a kiss. "Now what else you gotta get for your mother, eh?" In reality he wanted all this to be done as soon as it could be. Shopping wasn't much fun for him, obviously, and he found it tedious.

She nodded and smiled at him warmly. She giggled as he kissed her. She felt like a young school girl when she was with Jack. "Okay, Sarah, back to the task at hand.." She thought to herself. She knew if she let her mind wander that they would be shopping all day. That is how Jack was. He could take up so much of her time, and she would not even realize it.
"Okay, I need some carrots and potatoes..." They spent the next thirty minutes shopping and enjoying each others company. Jack had taken her basket by now and she was holding his other hand. Once they were finished, they made their way to Sarah's apartment and she turned to Jack. "Okay, we drop of the groceries and leave. We get in and then out..." She grinned at him and chuckled lightly. She knew if any of her girlfriends saw her now they would be shocked. She was usually the one that was, "Yes mama. No mama..." Not the one that wanted to run off with some guy. But she really didn't care.
They walked up the steps and Sarah opened the door, but not before she gave Jack one more kiss. She quickly smiled and turned to her family that were now sitting in the living room. It was actually only her Mom and Dad. "Hello Mama and Papa. I finished the shopping, " She continued to smile as she untied her bonnet strings. "I also picked up this on the way..." She turned to Jack and smirked widely. The attention was now drawn to him.

It didn't take long for Jack to get a little bored with the task at hand. He didn't know how girls could make a project out of shopping or things like that. Jack didn't think he would ever fully understand girls. But the fact that he was with Sarah made it a little better, and he could at least look forward to his time with her when it was done. The half hour went by relatively quickly, and soon they were at the door to the Jacob's apartment. Jack followed Sarah to the door, kissed her back, and quickly tried to make himself look presentable before walking in with her. "Hello Mama and Papa. I finished the shopping. I also picked up this on the way..." Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs turned to look at Jack, who only smiled and said a hello. He knew that he needed to act polite around them. Of course, they didn't want someone who acted otherwise spending time with their daughter...or their sons, but that was whole other subject. He was greeted warmly by Ester, declined something to drink, and was given a gentlemanly nod by Mayer. He waited in the door for Sarah to finish doing what she had to do. He didn't want to be inside too long on a day like this, and he was anxious for some time to spend with Sarah. ((Sorry...he can't say too much... ))

Sarah watched Jack and smiled warmly at him. She loved how he could be so fun with her, and then be completely polite and gentlemanly to her parents. It wasn't that he wasn't polite with her, but it was just different around her parents. He acted older and more mature. It made her proud to bring him home to her parents. She knew her parents liked him very much, and that was a good thing.
Trying to get out of there as quickly as possible, she approached her mother. "Mama, since I finished the shopping, may I go out with Jack for a bit?" She gave her mother the best puppy dog eyes she could without being to obvious. Her mother seemed to think about it for a moment. Ester glanced at Jack, and then back at Sarah. She smiled warmly and nodded, "Yes, but be back by dark," Her mother leaned in and gave her a quick peck on the cheek. Sarah hugged her mother and said, "Thank you!" She bid her father goodbye and then turned to Jack.
She grabbed his hand and they were out the door. She was surprised her mother had given her all day, but she wasn't going to argue and defiantly wasn't going to question her. She would take what she was given. She bit her lip and grinned up at Jack. Her face was basically beaming and she looked forward to the day spent with Jack.
((No problem. It was very good!))

Once they were out of the apartment, Sarah took Jack's hand and they walked out towards the street. Outside, they stood on the street for a while, Jack scanning the people who walked by: children playing in the streets, housewives putting up or taking down laundery, husbands walking to work or home for a lunch hour. Jack returned Sarah's excited grin, and wrapped his arms around her. "So what now?" he asked. "We got the whole rest of the day..." He was excited to be able to spend the day with her. They always had a good time, even when they were only together for a short while. But now that he had hours unobstructed to spend with her, he really was at a loss as to how to spend their time. ((It stinks. Sorry. ))

Sarah relaxed into Jacks hold. Being here with him and having nothing to do or worry about made her giddy just thinking about it. She marveled at how one boy could do this to her, but she really didn't mind.
"So what now?" he asked. "We got the whole rest of the day..."
She shrugged slightly and looked at him. "I don't know. What do you want to do?" She couldn't help but smile at this. They had been waiting for a day where they could just hang out and be together, and now that they had it they couldn't even decide what to do with it. She honestly didn't care what they did, as long as it was together.
"We could get some food or... uh I don't know?" She shrugged again and looked straight ahead. They were walking down the street by her house and it was very busy. She snuggled close to Jack as a few boys ran by, almost knocking her over. She was pretty used to living in New york, but still wondered how people could be so rude.
((It is okay, mine sucks too. There is not much to say...))
