Her blond hair fell into her pale face as she looked down into the gutter. Her blue eyes sparkled beneath her black cowgirl hat that was tipped slightly over her eyes as she sat on the curb infront of Irving Hall. She took a long drag on her cigarette as her eyes looked up now at the darkening night sky, she wondered whether she should go back to the lodging house or not. Angel, her border collie puppy sat next to her on the curb before her ears perked up and she began to yip.
Cowgirl looked up just as Angel began to take off down the street,"no,Angel get back hereh,"Cowgirl hollered running after the puppy in slight fear, she couldn't afford to lose Angel, she needed her companion, she couldn't handle it if she lost her,"c'mon baby, c'mon back hereh Angel,"she said rushing after her.

Dreamer walked along the sidewalk right outside of Irving Hall, taking a walk through the night. Night was the only time of day for Dreamer to think straight (a/n:ha-ha ). She had just arrived in New York, and so far there as some pretty strange things happening as to her welcome, but she met some pretty nice people. She had a soft smile on her face. Those people were kind to her, even when she feared them as strangers when she first met them. Like Foster for instance. He had helped her escape from a guy who caught her stealing an apple out of sheer hunger. He gave her some food and offered her a place to stay for a while so she could catch up to her health and get used to everything. In fact, Foster was the only newsie she had met so far. Suddenly, she heard a bark. Turning herself around, she saw a border collie puppy running toward her down the street. The sweet puppy slowed down when it reached the girl's feet, and Dreamer squatted down in front of it with a smile. "Well, hey there," she said softly. "Where did you come from?" There was a collar on the puppy, and Dreamer looked on the tag to see if it had a name and if it belonged to someone. Angel was the puppy's name...It suited her well. It did look like an angel with its adorable eyes.

Cowgirl stopped seeing Angel stop infront of a girl. She smiled in relief and walked up to the girl,"oh thank god, she normally never does that, I'm sorreh, did she bother ya?"she asked as she knelt down and scooped Angel in to her arms,"don't do that again baby, I can't afford to lose ya,"she whispered to the puppy as she cradled it in her arms. She looked at the girl and smiled offering her hand to the girl,'my name's Cowgirl, I'm from dese parts, what's yer name if ya don't mind me askin'?"she asked politely.
She was always one to make new friends, she had more guy friends than girl friends but if the girl was nice then she may become one of the few girl friends she actually had. It seemed out of all of her friends lately, Gambla and Star were her only female friends, the rest were guys,Foster,Race,Spot,Note,Twich,Jack, and Blake, but that was how she was, she liked guys more as friends. She put her cigarette out on the ground and stepped on it with her cowgirl boots,"what are ya doin' alone out hereh? A pretty one like yerself,"she asked noting that the girl was actually pretty beautiful compared to most she'd seen lately, something almost to be jealous of, but Cowgirl wasn't the type to get jealous unless she hated you.

When Dreamer saw a girl in cowboy boots and a black cowboy hat, she stood up instinctively. She watched as the cowboy hat girl scooped Angel into her arms, and loved it as if it were her own small child. Dreamer thought she was nice immedietly, but she still thought of her as a stranger. The stranger asked if the puppy bothered her and who she was
"No," Dreamer shook her head in a soft voice. "Not at all...My name's Dreamer,"
The girl had introduced herself as Cowgirl, so Dreamer felt a little bit better. What was she doing here?
"I was just walking around,"Dreamer answered softly. "I just got here. I was looking for Foster..."

"Ey, I see, Foster...well ya might have betteh luck somewhere else, he ain't Manhatten now is he, but if ya need help I can certainly oblige, and to what Borough do you belong to if you don't mind informin' me,"she said as she tilted her head slightly and summed the girl up, she seemed nice, and abit shy, which was typical when talking to strangers, unless you were given a horrible first impression.
She thought for a moment,"he was jus' at Irving Hall but it wasn't just it was more like an hour or so ago,"she said abit sad to bare bad news,"But I'm sure he's around Manhatten still none the less, or headed home at least,"she commented.

Cowgirl asked Dreamer what borough she belonged to. All she did was give half a shrug before answering.
"No where, really," she said, almost smiling. "I just got here today. But Foster gave me a place to stay for a while, and I'm just out here looking for him...I don't think he knows I'm out here though,"
So far, Dreamer thought Cowgirl was nice, being so kind as to offer to help out into finding her friend. She could tell they were going to start off as good friends

Cowgirl smiled abit and looked her over once more,"ya look like ya could be Manhattan material, I'm sure Jackyboy could use ya, if ya ever want to take up an offer and stay at the Manhattan lodging house that is and sell papes,"she said, not sure exactly if Foster offered her a place at his borough or somewhere else, people suggested different things all the time. She looked around abit and looked back at Dreamer.
"Well, we could try inside and see if he's there but I don't think he is, were ya supposed to meet him over hereh?"she asked as she set the now fidgetting puppy at her feet and Angel sat down and looked up at the two girls as they talked.

"No, I wasn't supposed to meet him here," Dreamer shook her head. "I just wanted to take a walk, and well...one thing lead to another, I started day-dreaming, and next thing I know I'm somewhere that's...not Staten Island...Who's Jackey-boy?"
Dreamer had raised a bit of an eyebrow when Cowgirl mentioned the name. She had never heard of someone named "Jackey-boy".

"Jack's the Manhattan newsies leader, he's a real nice guy, he's a good friend a mine, if ya ever need a place ta stay dat is, i mean where did Foster offer to let ya stay anyway?"she asked shifting her standing stance for a moment in a fidgetty way. She sighed and roughly ran a hand through her hair,"I can definately help ya though, whateveh ya may need,"she said politely.
It wasn't very safe for girls to be roaming these streets at night, unless you were a good fighter, or better then good. Cowgirl was lucky, she could hold her own pretty well, and if something went wrong, she knew some of the best who could mess up the persons face who messed her up if it got too far.
