Midnight, one of Bella's favorite times of the day. She had to wait for all of the Manhattan boys to go to bed before she did the dirty deed that needed to be done. That's right, Bella Harris was going to steal Jack's bandana. Mike asked her to, and she had to do it. She owed Mike, anything he asked her to do she had to do it.
She was sitting on her bunk staring off into space, the lodging house was silent, minus a few snores or moans. Bella took her wavy hair out of its long, single braid, and re braided it. That was what she had been doing for the past however long. She took a deep breath and peered around the wooden bunk. Everyone was sleeping peacefully, it was time.
Bella stood up quietly, making sure her old bunk didn't creak. She tip toed over to Jack's bunk. Bella felt bad, she was betraying everyone just for Mike. She had to, she owed him and Mike needed this for everything that was going on. Bella almost didn't want to think of everyone's reaction, she didn't even want to think about how everyone would react to the boy being killed.
And everyone would think it was Jack, and it would be all her fault. She swallowed hard, she couldn't chicken out. She was anything but a coward. Bella shivered from anxiety and she stood next to Jack's bunk. Just take it. she said to herself. Evil was trying to seduce her, Bella knew she wasn't an evil person. How could the sweet and innocent little Bella Harris be evil? She lifted her hand slowly to reach out for the bandana. But you're working for the wrong side, Bella! Her good side cried out to her. Mike won't be happy. Her evil side was taunting her. It was an angel and a demon, both inside her, both vying for her to be on their side.
It was like Adam and Eve in the garden all over again, would she take the forbidden fruit and commit to a life of sin? Or would she flee from it? Sweat began to form in little beads on her forehead, Bella shivered again. Mike can, and probably will kill you. The demon said, Don't do it, Bella. The angel warned. She bit her lip, she didn't want to disappoint anyone.
"Should've thought of that before I agreed to this."
Bella began to reach toward the bandana, her mind ran a thousand miles a minute as she touched the red fabric. She began to feel faint, as she grabbed it and backed away slowly, clutching it to her chest. She took a few deep breaths, trying to get her heart rate back to normal. Then, she scurried out of the lodging house.
"What have I done?"
