Mimi walked down the street of the Bronx. Her green eyes darting about. She reached down and fiddled with the gold chain around her slim neck. She stopped walking, dropped her necklace and looked around. Her hands couldn't stay still, so she grabbed one of her dark brown curls and played with that.
"Starsage told me she'd be here." Mimi thought, her cat-like eyes taking in the surrondings, as she looked for the familar face. Her slim fingers were still messing with her curls. She sighed, "If Star isn't here, I'll..." Her train of thought was interrupted when she heard footsteps.

Mimi turned around, noticing Starsage. She dropped the lock of hair she was holding in her hands, and crossed her arms. "What took you so long?" Mimi asked sternly. She pretended to be upset, even though she wasn't. She could never stay mad at Star.
Mimi remembered being backstage with Star, whispering and laughing. They'd always mess around with other cast members, and had the greatest of times. Mimi's frown softened, "How long has it been, Star?" She asked, she was so greatful to of found her best friend again.

Mimi laughed, and hugged her back. "Thanks." Mimi truly was grateful for the compliment. She shrugged, "Not all of 'em. Just the drunks mainly." Her sharp eyes scanned over Starsage. "Now what 'bout yourself? I'm sure you've got all of the guys chasin' after you! Do you have anybody special, Star?" She smiled.
Mimi shrugged again, "Nothin' much. Tommorrow is gonna be my first day of sellin'." She paused, "I don't want to seem needy or anything, but do you have a place where I could stay? I've been livin' on the streets for the past two years, ever since I ran away. So I've been going from here to there, plus my box of crates is getting worn." Mimi rolled her eyes, "Dumb cats can't leave my place alone. They keep finding a crate to have their kittens in." She chuckled to herself. "Enough about me, what's been going on with you Star?"

Mimi's eyes lit up, "Tell me! Who is he? How old is he? Is he nice? What does he look like? Is he handsome?" She clutched her arm, "Just make sure he knows not to hurt you. 'Cause if he does, he better pray that he'll get to see the next day." Mimi paused. "So is he handsome?"
"Thanks, Star. It'll be good to actually sleep on somethin' that ain't the ground, and that doesn't attempt to kill you." Mimi loved cats, but living with over twenty of them made her think otherwise. "So where do you live?"
She stopped abruptly when she heard Star mumble. "What? You just became the leader of the Bronx newsies?! How'd this happen?" Mimi was quiet for a moment. "Well, I'm sure you're doing just fine, but honestly, how'd this happen! Last time I saw you, you had no desire to become a leader."

Mimi laughed. "Yes, I am done. Now answer my questions!" She half-scolded. "Is he handsome?! I wanna know more, tell me more." She stopped, "Y'know if this was me, I'd tell you." She tried to persuade Star into telling her, Mimi was excellent at persuasion.
"The Bronx, okay, well I have a few things. Just clothes, and things like that. They're in a bag back in my alleyway. Unless one of the cats decided to have kittens on it," She rolled her eyes. "again."
Mimi nodded as she listened to Star's story. Feeling bad for her, "Star, are you lying to me? Y'know, I haven't performed much over the past two years." She thought for a moment, "Hey Star, is there a theatre in the Bronx?" Her green eyes glittered as she smirked.

Mimi beamed, she sat down and hung on every word of Star's story. She noticed how happy Star looked when she talked about Note. "Wait, Harlem? Isn't that the toughest place? I don't think I've ever seen someone go into Harlem that isn't tough, and come out alive." She sighed, "No. I don't have anybody special." She pulled her legs up onto the bench and sat indian-style. "I just sorta fade into the background I guess."
"Yeah, I don't like touchin' my bag either. I tried washing it, but it didn't exactly work. I didn't know at the time that you couldn't wash a bag in a small puddle." Mimi sighed. "It used to be white, but now its a mixture of brown and yellow." She shuddered at the thought.
Mimi listened to Star sympathetically. "At least you've been doing something. But I understand about the performing thing."
Her eyes continued to glitter, "No reason." Mimi had a plan up her sleeve, she always did.

Mimi shook her head, her dark brown curls flying. "No, I'm not saying that. Its just that the kids who went into Harlem weren't that tough. Eh, I don't know what I'm saying." She smiled, "You happen to know a few guys? Well would you just 'happen' to introduce me?" Mimi laughed.
She smiled, Mimi knew that Starsage didn't like things like that. "Okay fine. I'll can it for you. Even though you know you're going to have to see my poor bag everyday."
Mimi nodded, her bright smile was gone from her once-cheerful face. "I know how you feel. I'd give anything to perform again." She shrugged, "No reason." She repeated. Mimi still had to think of a plan, but the idea was definantly brewing in her mind. "I need to think about it first, and then I'll let you know." Her bright smile crawled back onto her face again.

Mimi smiled, "Good. I don't wanna offend the leader or anything." She winked at her friend. "Well good, we'll just happen to 'run into' one of them then sometime." She sighed, "Just like old times, huh?" Mimi missed the laughs they shared.
She laughed at Star's stubborness, "Star, you're acting like you're four." Mimi teased.
Mimi's face became sullen again. "You wanna know what happened?" She sighed, "I ran away. I just left. My mother was gonna arrange for me to marry some old man so that way I could give her lots of grandchildren. Its the same lifestyle my mother went through, and she thought it'd be best for me. My home was holding me down. I didn't want that lifestyle. I never did. I've always wanted to be a performer, you know that Star. I knew New York would be the place to go, so I just packed up one night and I left. And I have no regrets."

Mimi nodded as there was silence between them. She looked over at Star who looked sad, she grinned and decided to help cheer her up. "So uh, Star." She began, there was a hint of mischief in her voice. "When are you going to introduce me to Note?" She asked with a teasing wink.
She rolled her eyes at her.
"Thanks, I'm proud of myself. The only person I miss is my sister, Cathy." Mimi sighed, hoping her younger sister wouldn't be getting the same treatment that Mimi got while she still lived there. She nodded, "I'd like to. I'm gonna have to search around for an audition. And pray that they like me."

Mimi sent a mock glare in her direction, "If you know what's good for you then you would." She smiled, knowing that Star would introduce her of course, it was just more fun to tease her. And Star knew when Mimi was teasing.
She landed on the ground, "You know, if we weren't best friends, you'd be dead by now." She grumbled, as she pulled herself back up, dusting off her black pants. Mimi nodded, "I will. I'll let you know how it goes. First off, I have to find an audition."

"You know it." Mimi winked at her as she played with her gold chain around her neck, her hands couldn't stay still. They had to be doing something at all times. A bad habit she was trying, but failing, to break.
Mimi glared at her, trying to contain her own laughter. "Star, its not funny! You could've hurt me, and we all know that'd be bad for both yours and my health." Mimi couldn't help herself, she just began to laugh.

Mimi froze and glared at her. "No, I don't have my habit." She continued to fiddle with the chain. "And even if I did it isn't nasty!" She raised her voice, which wasn't rare. Mimi had a problem with volume control when she was upset.
She tried to fake anger, but she couldn't help it. She began to laugh again. Mimi leaned her head against the cool brick wall, as she laughed. "Y'know Star, I've missed laughing with you."

Mimi shrugged. "I dunno. I guess I don't like people telling me what to do. I guess that's one of the reasons I left home." Which was true, Mimi hated being told what to do. "Why'd you ask me if you knew I was going to be like this?" She shot back.
Mimi laughed, "I think I did too." She sighed, "I can't remember the last time I've laughed that hard." She chuckled, "I've yelled at a lot of things, but I haven't laughed in the longest time." She smiled back at Starsage, truly meaning it.

Mimi scowled, "So you think teasing me is entertainment? You're not the first to say so, people like to mess with me just 'cause they think its entertainment. She replied bitterly. Mimi took a deep breath, "I'm okay now."
Mimi was a smart girl, and took the hint, "Star, I've known you for a long time. I can tell when you're hinting at me." She took a deep breath, "I haven't been doing much of nothing, just living on the streets, stealing to make a living, charmin' people to get money. The usual things someone on the streets does."
((Eh, mine is pretty short too. Oh well.))

Mimi clenched her jaw, "Maybe. It depends." She raised one eyebrow, and glanced at Star. "Besides all of my encounters with my cats, I've had a few with people. Few of 'em hurt me, and a few haven't. Its toughened my skin a lot."
Mimi sighed, "Of course that's not it. I'm not gonna pour our my life's story all in one night Star, it takes time. I've done a lot more, and a lot of things that I'm not proud of. Just 'cause its only been two years doesn't mean anything, a lot can happen in two years." Her voice trailed off. "So, I've noticed you haven't told me much 'bout yourself, while I'm over here pouring my heart, soul and guts to you." She smirked. "What's gone on with you?"
