It was almost lunch time and Jackie still had about five newspapers left, that was still good for her first day, but she wanted to get better, and there was only one way of doing that which was to get more newspapers everyday so that she would want to sell all of them so she could eat and pay the rent at the Manhattan Lodging House.
Jackie walked over to the Horace Greenly Statue and leaned against it, she was pretty tired after her first selling. This is gonna be a long week thought Jackie. Jackie was starting to get bored, just leaning against the Horace Greenly Statue..so she started to think, think about what would happen if she went back to Brooklyn (that is where her aunt lives), and what would her aunt would do if she found her in Brooklyn, Jackie said to herself when she was crossing the Brooklyn Bridge when she ran away from her when Jackie was eight.

Jinks was walking around Manhattan selling her newspapers, she had about three left, which she was really happy about, that meant that she could go and eat sometime soon. She was around Horace Greenly Statue just yelling out different headlines trying to remember the ones that she already used so she wouldn't be chased down.
She was chased down earlier today because after that man bought the paper he saw that she was lying. It was a good thing she was taught to run fast (she thanks the boys for that). She saw Jax, a Manhattan newsie around Jinks' age, leaning against the statue, "Hey Jax how's it rolling?" she asked walking up to her.

Jax had been leaning against the Horace Greenly Statue when a girl from the Manhattan Lodging House, she was Jack's younger sister, her name was Jinks, or something along the lines of that.
Jax hadn't really met allot of the Manhattan newsies, actually she hadn't really even met any of them, except Jinks. Jax saw Jinks, a girl her age from the Manhattan Lodging House walk up to her.
"Hey Jax how's it rolling?"
"Hey Jinks, I'm good what about you" she asked, Jax stooped leaning against the Horace Greenly Statue.

"Hey Jinks, I'm good what about you"
Jinks smiled, "I'm doing okay," she said "So how many papes do ya have left?" she asked taking off her hat and sticking it under her arm. She ran her fingers threw her hair; for the fall it sure was hot out.
She loved the fall out of all the seasons, until it gets really hot out. She hates that part so much! Jinks thoughts were all over the place every hot day, everyone at the lodging house thinks it's weird most likely.
