It was around midnight as Mike walked down the streets of the Bronx. He put his hands into his pockets and scowled. He wasn't able to sleep, some bloody idiotic Brooklyn newsies were running up and down the streets making noise. So he decided to take a walk, and he decided he wanted to go to the river. He sighed as he looked up towards the sky. There was a full moon, and it was almost cloudless.
He got to the riverbank as he shivered a bit, there was a slight breeze. He breathed in the fresh air from it, loving its smell. He smirked, his plan was working brilliantly. He had a lot of people that were going to join him, perfect. It was just absolutely perfect, dearest Jacky-Boy wouldn't know what hit him.
His thoughts were interrupted by...splashing? He looked over to see clothes next to him, a skirt and blouse. So it had to of been a girl. He walked down the banks to the docks, there was a girl splashing and screaming. He laughed, "Nice to know you're enjoying yourself, love." He said, smirking.

Sarah crawled out of her window, wincing as it squeaked. She needed to get away from there. She needed air and wide open spaces. Frustration was pushing her to her limits. Her family had been so awful this past week. She didn't know what the deal was, but it was awful! They were always fighting and everything was always tense. She needed a break.
She slid down the wine, tearing her skirt in the process. Her mind filled with curses as she thought of how she was going to explain that to her mom. Forget it... Sarah thought as she hopped to the ground. Her feet landed with a thud and she winced as a sharp pain flew up her legs. She shook it off and started down the street.
Tonight she was headed to Bronx. She considered the bar or the lodging house, but decided against that. She wasn't in the mood to deal with loud people tonight. Instead, she decided on the river. Skinny dipping had always been something she wanted to do. When she expressed these thoughts to her mom, jokingly, Mrs. Jacobs' eyes widened with horror and next thing Sarah knew, she was grounded. Her mom didn't have a sense of humor.
Arriving at the river, Sarah didn't hesitate as she stripped off her clothing. She jumped into the river letting the water run over her body. No doubts or regrets haunted as she swam. She was completely free. Free from parents or home life, free from sewing, free from clothing. It felt good. She laughed and screamed, jumping around splashing.
"Nice to know you're enjoying yourself, love."
Sarah jumped and squealed, taken completely off guard. A young man was standing by the river, a smirk plastered on his face. Her cheeks immediately filled with color as she realized what he was standing by. Her clothing! She gulped, realizing the situation she was in was bad. "H-hello...." She said hesitantly.

Mike had a splitting headache from the bloody newsies making ruckus. He sighed, thank goodness for the fresh water. He considered swimming, but how bad would that look if someone caught him? He decided against that choice, just to save himself from humiliation and embarrassment.
"H-hello...."
He raised an eyebrow as he looked at the girl in the river. Most likely, she was naked. He smirked slightly, "Hello, love." He replied. "I'm not going to hurt you." He said. Unless you get in my way. He thought. He still had a smirk on his face as he walked down the docks, crouching at the end.

"Hello, love. I'm not going to hurt you."
Sarah flinched at his words. Well, Sarah she thought to herself, this is what you get for swimming naked at 2 in to morning.. As he came closer to the edge of the dock, Sarah sank deeper into the water. She was not willing to let this guy see her. He probably knew she wasn't wearing any clothes, since those sat on the beach, but she wasn't going to let him know her thoughts.
He crouched down on the edge of the dock and Sarah shivered. She wasn't sure if it was because of the cold water or the fact that some creeper stood between her and her clothing. "W-what do you want?" She was shivering now. What would I give for my clothes... She silently cursed herself. Why had she been so stupid?

Mike smirked, he did have some sort of dignity and class. So he wasn't looking directly at the young girl. He noticed her awkwardness and stepped back a bit. He was some sort of a gentleman, and he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable around him. Who knew? She could possibly be used in his plan.
"W-what do you want?"
"Nothing, love. Nothing at all." He decided to be a good man and get her clothes for her, "Do you want your clothes, love?" He asked, stepping up to get them. "Oh, and I'm Mike." The sooner he could woo her the sooner he could maybe get her on his side.

Nothing, love. Nothing at all. Do you want your clothes, love? Oh, and I'm Mike."
Why did he keep calling her love? For the first time, Sarah noticed his British accent. It was sorta cute... but, no. Sarah needed to see Jack. She hadn't seen him in weeks. He'd been busy with some new bad guy. Who knew? He kept a lot of things from her.
"Yes, please..." She replied, somewhat doubtful. He seemed like an okay guy, but who knew. He could be some creeper who was going to rape her as soon as she was out of the water. Should she trust him? He reached for her clothing and she prayed he wouldn't try anything funny.
Mike? Where have I heard that name... Sarah shrugged, realizing that Mike was a common name for a boy. He'd introduced himself, and it would only be right for her to introduce herself back. That was manners right? That was how she was raised, answer when spoken to. "I'm Sarah..." She said, not giving out anymore information.

"Yes, please..."
A smirk crept over Mike's face as he walked back and picked up her clothing. He walked over to the docks and placed it on the edge. "There you go, love." He said, hopefully this plan would work and he could find out some information from her. So far, so good. If all else failed he could try something on her, but that was the last plan. Mike was a gentleman and didn't want to harm a lady. Especially one as pretty as her.
"I'm Sarah..."
"That's a pretty name." He stated. It was, but he needed to get information out of her and fast. "Are you a newsie?" He asked, hopefully she would know one and give him information about them. Or tell him about the gullible ones that could be tricked into his scheme. Yes, this plan was bloody brilliant!

"There you go, love."
Sarah watched as he grabbed her clothing and brought it back to her. Well, at least he didn't run off with it, but now, now she had to figure out a way to get the clothing on her without him seeing. She cleared her throat awkwardly and said, "Would you turn around?" What in the world had she gotten into?!? This was awful...
"That's a pretty name. Are you a newsie?"
Sarah bit her lip to keep from smiling and willed herself not to blush. This guy was a creep! She shouldn't be giving him the pleasure of seeing her blush. "Thank you..." She replied quietly. She felt suddenly very naked (besides the fact that she was..) under his gaze. He kind of reminded her of Spot Colon. That cold stare that made you think they were looking into your soul.
"No, I'm not," she said in reply to his question. "But my brother is..." Was she giving to much information? Should she even be talking to this guy?

"Would you turn around?"
Mike smirked, "Of course, love. I was just about to do that." He said as he turned his back to her. He didn't want to creep her out too badly. He still had to use her. He could just feel that she would be accustomed to the plan. It was just the bad guy feeling, he could just feel it inside. It was an intuition that every villain had.
"No, I'm not, But my brother is..."
So she wasn't one, but her brother is. His ears perked up at that. A brother? If the sister was used, the brother would soon fall under the influence of his. But that all depended on who the brother was. If the brother was someone important, it would work perfectly. Now, how to get her to tell him her brother's name? Hm...lying. Lying would work.
"I'm a newsie." He said. Well, not exactly a lie. He used to be one, but he's not now. So technically it wasn't a lie. Oh well, as long as he got information out of her, that's all that mattered. "What's your brother's name? I might know him, or perhaps be friends with him." He said.

"Of course, love. I was just about to do that."
Sarah gulped and nodded. Here we go She pulled herself out of the water, shivering as the cold air hit her wet body. Quickly, she redressed her self and tried to dry off as much as possible. Even with her clothes on, Sarah shivered. Why had she done this? How as she going to explain the wet clothing to her mother? She cursed herself and vowed never to do this again. "Thank you. I'm done..." She said hesitantly.
She was thankful he hadn't tried anything while she was changing. Maybe he wasn't as creepy as she thought? But then again, the way he kept saying love kinda freaked her out. But that was just how he talked, she reminded herself.
"I'm a newsie.
Newsies? Newsies could be trusted, right? That is what Jack told her. If you ever are in trouble, call a newsie. Newsies are trustworthy and not creepy. She kept reminded herself this as to calm herself down. Why was she so freaked? She couldn't really tell, but she needed to calm down. She was shaking violently now, but not just from being cold.
"What's your brother's name? I might know him, or perhaps be friends with him."
Sarah looked at him for a moment before replying. He looked trusting enough, and he was a newsie after all. "David, David Jacobs. You probably know him..." She was proud of her brother. In less than a month he had gotten a name for himself. He was a big man now, someone people feared. Les looked up to him as did many younger kids. She was very proud.

"Thank you. I'm done..."
Mike turned around to a now-clothed Sarah. He smirked slightly, "Okay then, love." He replied. He knew a lot of the girls around him didn't get the whole 'love' thing. He couldn't help it. That's how a lot of the guys in England said to girls. They called him love, dear and other pet names. It wasn't strange to him, but it was strange to them and weirded them out a bit.
"David, David Jacobs. You probably know him..."
David Jacobs? He had to repeat the name in his head over and over before he could believe it. He almost jumped for joy when he heard that name. Perfect! His plan was working out perfectly now! He could wrap Sarah around his little finger, and use her. From what he had heard the Jacobs family was very close.
And wasn't Jack dating Sarah? This was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. He could use Sarah to make Jack jealous to distract him so Mike could take over Manhattan. If he kept the romantic, gentleman theme he could have Sarah around his little finger. He grinned, this plan was going to be an amazing plan.
But, what about the other newsies? It wouldn't go over well with them. And taking over Manhattan would be difficult without them. What if he used Sarah to convince the newsies to think he was better. That he had changed, and they wouldn't hate him as much. Hmm, it was a good plan. Even better than his first. He would start with David first, because he didn't know Mike and would believe Sarah. Then he would go for Mush, even though he was loyal he was gullible. And if he trusted David, then he would go with him. Racetrack and Jack would be last. They wouldn't believe him and the others as easily.
Mike smirked and looked back at Sarah. "I've heard of him, but I haven't met your brother. Would you mind introducing us?" He asked.

"Okay then, love."
Sarah tilted her head to the side, studying the boy in front of her. It wasn't the easiest thing, seeing as how it was quite dark. But from what she could see, Mike was a very attractive young man. He was tall and darker skinned. Sarah guessed he was British, not just because of his looks but because of his accent. The way he kept saying love, it just rolled off his tongue and sent chills down her spine.
Subconsciously, Sarah shivered. The cold water and damp clothing was starting to make her body ache. All of her skin was screaming out in protest, begging her to get warm again. She ignored the feelings, waiting to see what this guy wanted. He obviously wanted something, or else he wouldn't be prodding her with these questions. You can never never never ever hide your heart. Something was off with this guy, or maybe Sarah was just freaked because she was alone at night with him.
"I've heard of him, but I haven't met your brother. Would you mind introducing us?"
Sarah shifted her weight, suddenly very uncomfortable. Instead of answering his question, Sarah replied with one of her own. "Where do you sell?" Maybe if she knew where he sold, she could tell him where he could find David. He just wanted to meet him, no harm there, right?

Mike smirked as he studied Sarah. This wouldn't be difficult at all, all he had to do was win her over. And that wouldn't be hard at all. Besides, what did she see in Jack anyway? Mike was twice the looked Jack was, and he was more of a gentleman. That was probably just the bitterness in him speaking, but that is what he believed.
"Where do you sell?"
Mike froze, what could he say? He wasn't a newsie anymore, he worked at a farm. But when he was a newsie he sold for Midtown, and apparently Midtown wasn't as well known. He took a deep breath and said, "I sell for Manhattan." He replied. "I've always wanted to meet him. So could you, please?" He asked, if she said yes his plain would be well on its way.
((Oh wow, that was horrible...sorry!))

Sarah shifted uncomfortably as he studied her. Attention from boys was not something Sarah was used to. Every boy in New York knew that she was Jack's girl. They knew to keep their eyes and hands off of her. And if they didn't, they were in for a beating, not just from Jack, but from all of the Manhattan newsies. She had plenty of 'brothers' to protect her. But sometimes Sarah found herself missing this attention. Some guys wouldn't even dare talk to her. It got a little annoying how protective Jack and the other boys were over her. But it was definitely strange to have this boy be looking at her, no less talking to her. He must be new around here.
But lately, Sarah hadn't seen Jack. He'd been busy with something, as usual. He was always saying something like, "Oh, sorry Sarah, I have to meet with some of the boys," or, "I can't take you out right now, to dangerous." Sarah wondered if any of this was even true. What if Jack was just trying to get rid of her? What if he didn't like her anymore? A lot of the time, Sarah found herself doubting her and Jack's relationship. Every relationship had it's downfalls, but that didn't make it easier to bear. Sarah guessed that this would pass, and that it was just a faze. Or at least she hoped.
Another that worried her was how secretive Jack was. Whenever she asked about something, he would just respond with a "I can't tell you, sorry," or, "That is a secret.." How did she know he wasn't with another girl? His secrets were beginning to freak her out and Sarah didn't know how long she could take it. She shook her head, willing herself not to obsess about it.
"I sell for Manhattan. I've always wanted to meet him. So could you, please?"
Sarah smiled and nodded. "Of course, I'm sure he won't mind." Sarah realized that her smile as genuine, for once. For the past few weeks, Sarah had been fake. Her smiles were fake and her exterior had been fake. Not many people knew about her issues at home and the doubts she was having about Jack. Talking to someone who knew nothing about her, didn't judge her, or put her on a pedestal has Jack's girl was refreshing.

"Of course, I'm sure he won't mind."
Mike smirked, this was going to work out beautifully. "That's great." He said. "I can't wait to meet him, I've heard so much about him." He said. As long as he could convince David he was good, it wouldn't be hard to convince Jack. And once Jack trusted him, he would pull the rug right out from under his feet, and he would fall. Thus, making Mike the new leader of all of New York.
Now, he had to have another way to get to Jack, and that would be through Sarah. If he could make Jack somewhat jealous, it would distract him, and make it easier for Mike to brainwash the other boys. It wouldn't be difficult to woo Sarah, she didn't look too bright. Then again, none of them did, except Mike that is.
He cleared his throat, "So I was wondering if you would like to go to lunch with me sometime. As friends, just friendly acquaintances." He said with a smirk. "I'm willing to buy." Of course he would buy, he was a gentleman. Gentlemen had to treat a lady right, that's just how it is.
