Butterflies flew relentlessly and carelessly. They didn't care how it made him feel. They just didn't care. His stomach was doing flips and turns. The softness of her hand against his was enough to make him dizzy.
The abruptness of the nervousness, and how it overtook his whole body, confused him. He hadn't been this nervous around her since they first met, which wasn't to long ago. Maybe it was because they were on their way to his apartment.
Realization hit him like a rock, and he started to panic. His apartment was a mess. It was the perfect picture of a young bachelor. His grip on her hand tightened and he started to sweat lightly.
Of course, he didn't expect anything to happen tonight, and he didn't want anything to. He was a firm believer in waiting. Call him a prude, but he truly didn't care. This wasn't anyone else's battle, but his own. It was his right to decided whether or not he wanted to go all the way, and he definitely didn't want to push the girl.
They reached his apartment and he turned to face her. "Uh, could you stay out here for a moment?" He cringed at how rude this sounded.
Mimi and Roger stood on the stoop of his apartment building, freezing. And all Roger could think about was the monster that waited just beyond the door.

For the past ten minutes, Mimi has been chewing on her lower lip. Her green eyes sparkled with excitement, and her hand lightly squeezed Roger's hand. With her free hand she brushed a few stray curls away from her face. She shivered slightly, from the nervous excitement she felt inside. She looked over at Roger for a split second, wondering why she felt so nervous around him. But nevertheless she enjoyed the feeling.
"Uh, could you stay out here for a moment?"
She looked up at him, her green eyes meeting his hazel. She felt confused, but nodded. "Sure. Um, go ahead." She wasn't sure what to say, and she didn't know what he needed to do. Too many thoughts were clouding her mind, making it nearly impossible to think clearly.

"Sure. Um, go ahead."
Noticing the confusion that flickered through her eyes, he gulped. His throat suddenly felt dry and his tongue felt heavy as her green eyes met his. He searched them for any emotion and found just what he was dreading. She was confused, and somewhat hurt.
He hated having to leave her out in the cold. His eyes lingered on hers for a moment longer and he finally spoke. "Never mind. Lets go in." Of course he wouldn't ask her to stand out here in the cold.
They walked into his apartment and he immediately regretted inviting her over. No, he didn't mean that. He wanted her here, and he knew she wouldn't care about the mess. But she did say earlier about how messy the lodging house was. He argued with himself for what seemed like forever, but was really only a few minutes.
He turned to face her once more and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry about the mess..." he trailed off and glanced around the room.

"Never mind. Lets go in."
Mimi grinned, "Okay.." She still was slightly confused, but brushed it off as she followed Roger into his apartment. She glanced around, not really surprised, it was messy but he was living on his own and he was a young man. He didn't have anybody else to take care of him and tell him to clean up, so for that reason she didn't mind it at all.
"Sorry about the mess..."
Mimi looked up and shook her head, "No, no its okay, its perfectly fine." She said as she smiled at him. "Its really nice." She said, "Thanks for letting me stay."

Beautiful. She was beautiful. Especially when she smiled. Contagious is the only word Roger could think of to describe it. Soon, he found himself smiling. So, there he stood, smiling like an idiot. His girlfriend stood a few feet from him smiling as well.
Realizing that he was just staring, Roger quickly shook his head and made his way toward Mimi. He grabbed her hand and led her to his room. "This is where you can stay..." He glanced around. "Uh, I'll clean up after dinner." He smiled and nudged her out of the room. The bag he had been caring, now lay on the ground beside his bed. It was Mimi's.
"Okay, food!" He said, once they were in his living room. He clapped his hands together and rubbed. He could see his kitchen from where he was standing, and knew what lay inside of it. Nothing. That's what. Absolutely nothing.

"This is where you can stay...Uh, I'll clean up after dinner."
Mimi stifled a laugh, before following Roger into the living room. She glanced around, taking in the sights around her. There was something about it that had the 'homey' feel. She felt completely comfortable there, and that was a rare thing. Usually she felt uncomfortable in other people's homes, but this was different. Roger was different, he wasn't like any other guy she's met before. He actually had respect for her, and that meant a lot.
"Okay, food!"
"I like food," She quipped, as she mimicked his actions, not in a mean way, but a nice teasing way. "You can cook?" She asked. Well of course he could, he works at a restaurant, most people who work at restaurants cook.

Roger narrowed his eyes at her and pouted. She was teasing him, he knew. His eyes softened as her hazel orbs met his. They were beautiful. She was beautiful. He didn't know what it was about this girl, but what ever it was; he was falling head over heels in love with it.
"You can cook?"
He gulped and shook his head. He waited for the reaction that was coming. He honestly never tried to cook before, he never found the need for it. He usually ate at Johnson's, using his employ discount, and therefor never needed food at home.
He could only imagine how Mimi was going to react to this. Her sarcastic, cool manner was going to come out and make some comment about him not being able to cook. He didn't mind... he actually found it attractive.

Mimi's eyes widened as Roger shook his head, indicating he couldn't cook. "Are you kidding?" She asked in disbelief, normally if you worked at a restaurant you had some sort of cooking ability. She smiled, "How can you work at Johnson's and not cook? Do you just wait tables?" She asked, trying to hold back her laughter. Roger looked as though he did something wrong, it was honestly no big deal. She couldn't cook that well, her mother tried to teach her, but she always shrugged it off and didn't care.
"So do you plan to starve me tonight?" She asked, teasingly. She looked at his kitchen. It was almost fully clean, just a few things thrown carelessly over the counter tops.

Roger sighed and looked away. He could tell she was holding back her laughter. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, letting her tease him. Truthfully, he liked it. It wouldn't have been near as fun if Mimi wasn't there to tease him. He liked it.
"So do you plan to starve me tonight?"
Roger looked back at her and rolled his eyes. Of course he planned on starving her. "No, I just wasn't expecting you," he defended himself. "Thats all." He made a face at her.

"No, I just wasn't expecting you, Thats all."
Mimi smiled, and then crossed her eyes at him. Returning the face he made at her, "Its okay, I'm used to it." She glanced down at the ground and stole a look at Roger. She could only ask herself, how did someone like her get someone like him? Who would want a runaway who's plan backfired on her? Why her? She couldn't answer them, but she was very grateful for Roger. If it wasn't for him, she'd be on the streets...again.
"So um, now what?" She asked with a small laugh. Her green eyes glittered with wonder as she smiled awkwardly. She felt comfortable around Roger, but there was still a strange feeling that she always had around people unless she's known them forever.

"Its okay, I'm used to it."
Roger laughed and shook his head. "Ya know, the sad part about that face," he started. "Is that your cuter that way than before." He was joking of course. He thought Mimi was one of the most beautiful girls he has ever seen. With or without the crossed eyes.
"So um, now what?"
Roger bit his lip and raised his eyebrows. He let his gaze wonder around the apartment. There really was nothing to do here. He never spent his evenings here. He basically just slept here. His eyes met hers once more. "Are you tired?"

"Ya know, the sad part about that face, Is that your cuter that way than before."
Mimi's jaw dropped in mock horror. "I'm going to get you back for that, Roger. You know that, right?" She said, with a teasing tone to her voice. She was very good at pulling pranks on other people, and getting back at others in a fun-loving sort of way. She smiled, loving how he could bring out her fun side.
"Are you tired?"
When his eyes met hers, her stomach did somersaults. She shook her head, "Not really..." It was at least seven, not that late. She swallowed, as one of her hands played with the gold chain around her neck. She bit her lower lip as she looked him in the eye, "I'm sorry, I'm not much fun unless we're doing something." She said, trying not to get too lost in his hazel eyes.

"I'm going to get you back for that, Roger. You know that, right?"
Roger raised his eyebrows and smirked at her. "Oh really?" He started. "And how exactly do you plan on doing that?" He crossed his arms over he chest and smirked wider, if at all possible. He loved teasing her, and loved that she could take it and dish it right back.
"I'm sorry, I'm not much fun unless we're doing something."
He smiled at her and made his way toward her. He put his arm around her shoulders and squeezed her re assuredly. "I love being around you, even if we aren't doing something." He leaned his head down and planted a light kiss on her forehead.
"Now, all we have to do is think of something to do..." He trailed off, waiting for suggestions.

"Oh really? And how exactly do you plan on doing that?"
Mimi pouted playfully, as she crossed her arms across her chest to mimic him in a playful way. "When you least expect it. I'll get you back." She smirked, letting her sharp green eyes meet with his soft hazel.
"I love being around you, even if we aren't doing something."
She smiled as she leaned her head onto his shoulder. She couldn't help but let her doubts take control of her mind. She felt completely comfortable with him, but there was a string of doubt in the back of her mind. She wasn't able to let herself love like she should, she couldn't surrender herself to her vulnerable side. She was too scared of being like one of the airheads she saw a lot with their boyfriends and their perfect white dresses and their perfect white parasols. She was too scared of getting hurt again, or getting pulled down. Mimi was a free spirit and she wanted it to be like that forever. She needed to roam, and could never stay in the same place twice. That's why she loved New York, around almost every corner it was a new place. Maybe that's why she was a performer, no part was the same. She sighed slightly, remembering what someone said to her a few months ago, she was finally able to take the advice instead of chanting it in her mind every day.
Give in to love, or live in fear.
She closed her eyes, as she inhaled Roger's scent. She realized if she wanted to find out about herself, she'd need to give in to love. She would only regret it.
"Now, all we have to do is think of something to do..."
Her lips parted in a smile, "Okay." She said, sitting down on one of his chairs. "Go ahead, I'm open to suggestions." She said with a slight laugh.

"When you least expect it. I'll get you back."
Roger scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest as well. "Really?" He smirked at her, one eyebrow quirked. "I am excited to see that..." He winked at her.
She parted from him, much to his dismay. He was enjoying her scent and the warmth of her body. When she left, it was as if a part of him left. He felt comfortable in her arms.
He sighed and sat down across from her. "Ya know, your really not helping me...." He put his head in his hands and rubbed his temples. What could they do?
((Wow, no comment))
