Roger laughed and hugged her back. He was so glad he had taken her here, or more of her dragging him here. He was so surprised he had asked her to be his girl, but he was glad he did. Mimi, for some reason, made him want to open up and talk about his past and everything he had hidden. He loved her for that, and many other reasons.
He chuckled, and looked at her. "Well, we could go get cleaned up..." He glanced down at her muddy and some what damp clothing and then down at his. They both looked like they had slept in wet clothing on a beach. He grinned at her sheepishly and then started again, "And then we could go grab some breakfast, my treat?" He raised his eyebrows at her and his grin widened.

"Well, we could go get cleaned up..."
Mimi nodded, "Yeah..." She said, trailing off. Her clothes were almost sticking to her because of the way she slept, and the way they dried. Even then, her clothes weren't fully dry, they were still damp, and the summer heat hasn't kicked in yet.
"And then we could go grab some breakfast, my treat?"
She smiled, "Of course!" She exclaimed, then after realizing how loud she was, she gave Roger a sheepish smile. "I mean, sure that sounds good. Where at?"
((Mine is short too, don't feel bad.))

Roger smiled widely as Mimi replied enthusiastically. It made him happy that she was so happy. In his mind he was just as enthralled as she was, he just didn't show it like she did. He nodded and and chuckled lightly. "Yeah, it sounds good..." He mumbled quietly as he grinned. She was more beautiful every time she opened her mouth or looked his direction.
"Well, we could go to your place.... or my place..." He spoke his thoughts at loud. He didn't have any idea where she lived, but would rather go there. True, he had an apartment they could go to, but it wasn't clean and he didn't want to put them in a position where they might compromise their morals. He didn't want to put pressure on Mimi and he didn't think he trusted himself not to put pressure on her. They could run by his apartment and grab some clothes and then go to her place and clean up. He had guessed she lived in the lodging house in the Bronx and they needed to go by there anyway to make sure no one was looking for her.

"Well, we could go to your place.... or my place..."
Mimi bit her lower lip and stared at the ground thinking. She honestly didn't want to go to the Lodging House, but knew she would have to. The majority of people there would be worried sick, and she would have to explain and introduce Roger. And she had to get out of her wet clothes. But, at the Lodging House, nobody would leave them alone. The younger newsies would be asking her questions, and as much as she loved them, she just wanted to be alone...with Roger.
She shrugged and glanced over at him, "I don't mind. Wherever you want to go is fine with me. I probably should stop by the Lodging House just to tell everybody I'm still alive." She gave him a slight smile.

Roger smiled and nodded, "We can run by the lodging house and grab some clothes for you." He started. "Then we can go to my place." He smirked and pushed himself off the ground. He offered her a hand and pulled her up forcefully. When she landed on her feet, they were mere inches apart. His smirk widened slightly and he gave her a peck on the check.
They walked hand in hand to the lodging house. It wasn't that far from the river and it took them no time. He swung their hand slightly and every so often would shove her playfully. When they were a block away from the lodging house Roger suddenly got a mischevious look in his eyes. He suddenly lunged at her and picked her up so that he was holding her like a baby. He ran forward and swung her side to side. His feet got tangled and they both went sprawling forward. She landed underneath him, and instead of getting up he pushed himself up so he was leaning over her. He grinned at her and leaned in for a kiss.
"Uh, Mimi?" A voice was heard for the door of the building that they were in front of.
//Well this should be fun! I gave Star permission to join us! Posting order: Roger, Mimi, Star//

"Uh, Mimi?"
Mimi's entire body went numb, she knew that voice- it was Starsage. What would she think when she saw her and Roger? Her brain kicked back into action when she realized her was still on top of her. "Get up." She hissed, as she pushed herself up. She glanced around and leaned closer to Roger, "That's my friend Star, she's the leader of the Bronx newsies. The borough I sell for, she's probably worried herself sick." She whispered into his ear.
Her eyes shifted up to the door, "Um...hi?" She said, as she coughed awkwardly.

Roger's eyes went from Star back to Mimi. "I know. Remember I told you I sold for her sometimes?" He whispered back. He pushed himself off the ground and reached out to help Mimi up. His back was to Star and he made a face at Mimi. He realized how awkward this situation was and felt bad for getting her into it.
He watched Mimi, considering as the question was directed toward her. He almost jumped at the harshness in Star's voice. He had never seen her actually have to be a leader, and it startled him a bit.
He turned around and pulled Mimi next to him, still holding onto her hand. He nodded to Star, "Hey Star!" He knew he sounded to enthusiastically then he should, but he didn't understand why Star was angry. Mimi was a big girl and could take care of herself.

"Hi, where have you been?"
Mimi immediately held her breath, wondering what she would tell Starsage. She sighed, and glanced over at Roger. "Well um, you see, I uh...was with Roger and um we kinda fell asleep by the river. But that's all, I swear." She said almost defensively. She did NOT want to get in trouble with Star. Mimi hated getting in trouble, and hated getting lectures. She hated being told which way was best.
"I know. Remember I told you I sold for her sometimes?"
Mimi mentally slapped herself, of course she remembered that. "Oh yeah, I remember now." She whispered back, holding onto Roger's hand for dear life.

"Hi Roger...Can ya give us a minute?"
Mimi glanced up at Roger, hoping..no praying that he'd say no so that way she wouldn't get lectured. Unfortunately for her, he nodded and she walked sadly behind Star.
"Mimi, your my best friend, but that doesn't mean you can push your limits with me,"
She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. "Star, I was fine. Besides, I've been living on the streets for the past two years. I think I know how to handle myself. I'm not four, I'm sixteen." Mimi was trying to keep her temper under control, but it was hard. She glanced back at Roger, "Star I need to go. Roger and I are going to breakfast." She tried to pull away from her.

"And my rule is that you have to be home before curfew, or...You can't stay here the next night,"
Mimi stared at her, "So you're kicking me out too?" She sighed, "I'm not surprised most people do, my own parents did." She took a step back, "Fine. I'll live on the streets...again. That's where the abandoned ones go, I guess." She crossed her arms again and looked anywhere but in Star's direction. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow then. Have fun with the newsies." She said coldly, that wasn't like Mimi to act towards Star like that. But she was upset, and didn't want to get lectured by her best friend. Unfortunately her best friend just happend to be the leader of the Bronx newsies.
She turned around and looked at Roger, embarrassed he had to see her act and talk like that. "He's going to dump me now." She thought sadly, as she put her hands in her pockets and hung her head. "We haven't even been together for an hour and now he's going to dump me." She glanced up to look at his face, "Sorry you had to see that." She mumbled, trying to hide the fact that she was on the verge of tears.

Roger ran his hands through his hair. Glancing around, he realized how weird he looked. He was just standing here a few feet from the girls. They were arguing and he was just standing there, looking stupid. He flinched as he heard what Star was saying. He understood where she was coming from, but still felt that she was being to harsh. He breathed a sigh as Star walked away and Mimi made her way toward him. At least it was over.
"Sorry you had to see that."
He narrowed his eyes slightly as she said this. Something was not right. He put his hand underneath her chin and tilted her face up so she was forced to look him in the eye. "Hey, hey. It's okay.... I didn't mind..." He noticed small droplets of water in the corners of her eyes. He glanced toward the direction Starsage had gone to. So far, his first impressions of her were not that great. He looked back at Mimi and grinned sheepishly at her. "It's okay..."

"It's okay..."
Mimi hastily wiped the tears that were running down her cheeks. "No its not. Me and Star, we've always gotten along really well. I don't recall her telling me the curfew. This is all my fault, everything usually is." She sniffled and crossed her arms, staring at the ground.
She was honestly afraid that this would harm her and Star's friendship, she didn't want to lose her best friend. She didn't mean to go off on her like that, but that was just her temper, and sometimes she couldn't control it.

Roger smiled and pulled her into a hug. "Star is the leader and she has to do what she thinks is right. It is not going to mess anything up with her, I promise.." He really didn't have any place to promising, but if Star was stupid enough to lose someone like Mimi, then that was her fault.
He pulled away and held her at arms length. "We gotta go in there and get your clothes. If you can't stay her tonight, you can stay with me.." he noticed the look on her face and added quickly. "I will sleep on the couch, not funny stuff...Promise" He smirked and let one of his arms fall down, while putting the other around her shoulders.

Mimi nodded as she rested her head on Roger's shoulder, sniffling. She was glad nothing was wrong between her and Roger, she just hoped that she could swallow her pride and apologize to Star.
"We gotta go in there and get your clothes. If you can't stay her tonight, you can stay with me..I will sleep on the couch, not funny stuff...Promise"
She smiled slightly, it was nice to know she didn't have to live on the streets again. She nodded, "Thanks, I appreciate it."

"Thanks, I appreciate it."
He smiled and nodded. He carefully nudged her, letting her know that the awful deed needed to be done. "We need to go get some clothing for you..." His gaze flicked to the lodging house and then back at Mimi. "You ready?" He raised his eyebrows and pursed his lips slightly.
He wasn't sure how he felt about conversing with Starsage once more. It wasn't like the didn't get along, they just hadn't started off to great. He knew Mimi need some clothes, and she also needed to talk to Star.
